2007 Hyundai Sonata
There are 9 user reviews for the SE XM trim shown below
- Excellent value, quiet ride, smooooth powerfull engine, great warranty
- Expected high depreciation mediocre city fuel economy
Having driven the earlier model goofey Sonatas I was a little sceptical of all the hype reviews. An extended test drive left me in awe of how far Hyundai has come. We purchased an SE v6. My wife really liked the style of the Ford fusion, but after our past experience with Fords that fall apart after 30k, no way...read morehide

- average fuel economy for v6, excellent handling, solid quality feel
- back seats a bit uncomfortable, sometimes bad smell out of AC vents
probably one of the best cars on the market today. would have not considered a hyundai 10 years ago, but they have proven themselves as a world class company. very satisified. 20K miles on my 2006 sonata with no defects.

- Respectable MPG for V6, performance, roomy, safety, too much more to say
- Seats take a little getting used to, head rest in a weird position.
I bought this car on June 2. So far with a 70:30 highway to city driving ratio, I've averaged around 26 mpg. Not too bad. The car accelerates very well from a start and standing acceleration is very good. Very roomy interior and trunk space. Standard options are among the best I've seen in this class. Shiftronic transmission can be fun and I found it to be a nice way to improve fuel economy. For under 20 K, it's nearly impossible to find a better equipped car with as good of warranty. I was also impressed with the handling and for a large car, it is very easy to park anywhere thanks to a generous turning radius. My only gripe would be on the seats, the headrests seem to push your neck too forward but besides that this is a great car....read morehide

- Good fuel economy,
I can not believe that Hyundai is ranked number 3. It should be number 1 in my book. What a car for the money!!

- awesome price, looks, interior room, standard features, overall awesome vehicle for the money.
- somewhat of a rough ride, could have more comfortable seats, and better placement of buttons
I bought this car for my wife about 2 weeks ago and we absolutely love it. She hade a Hyundai elentra so we just upgraded if you will. Everything about this car is awesome. It has plenty of room and the standard features are awesome. We got an awesome deal on the car with all the rebates that Hyundai had. The only thing I would improve is it seems to take bumps pretty hard. Has great acceleration. For the price there is not a car in its class that can compare very happy with it....read morehide

- Roominess, quiet, ergonomics, engine, handling, value
- Seats could be better, but not that bad, funny noise in rear, but went away
I've owned 5 Saturns in the past 12 years, after a not so good experience with my last two, I decided to try something different. Although, Saturn did just came out with the Aura, and it is a nice car, but the model that I wanted with pretty much the same features as my current SE would cost me about 5k more. So I researched the Sonata. The Accord was out of the question, too many on the road and although great quality, its a very boring car. And the Camry cost too much to piece together with the options that I wanted. So for 21k, saw this puppy on the lot, had all the features that I wanted, test drove it, loved the room, engine, features and rebate, and two hours later, was on my way. Love most everything about this ride so far. Yes the seats could be better, but trust me I've sat in much worse. Had some odd tick noise in rear that bugged me, wasn't sure what it was, but it went away after a few weeks, so I didn't mention it to the service dept. Hopefully it stays gone....read morehide

- smooth ride, interior room, interior appointments, standard features
- Ride over bumps can be noisy, some find seats uncomfotable on long trips, in-town mileage
I've had an 06 Sonata for 4-5 months and 6,000 miles now. It has been a very good car. My last car was a Camry, so that is primarily what I am comparing to. The Sonta drives more quietly but less responsively than the Camry. Its engine has more than adequate power to drive silently at over 80 on the highway.
My highway mileage has averaged about 26-27 at 70-75 mph. I get 30 only on 55-65 mph highways. My in town mileage is a bit disappointing at well under 20 mpg.
I took three friends on a trip recently, and all had adequate leg room. I'm well over 6' and my other front seat passenger is about 6'3". The other two were about 5'11" tall.
I've received favorable comments from all passengers when taking road trips.
Trunk is huge but opening too small to get a small bike in. Golf bag fits easy.
I had a few dealer prep issues at first--front window screeched when opening. Brakes sometime squeel when wet or cold.
Overall, for the price, This has been a great car. For the responsiveness of the engine, it gets decent mileage. Again, for the money, the nice interior and exterior of the car are very good....read morehide

- Smooth ride, Spacious interior, stylish exterior, Handling, and Value
- Fuel tank noise, rattling noise on center console and new car smell
I bought this car last month because according to the consumer reports, Sonata V6 is the 2nd best mid size sedan between $20,000 and $25,000. The consumer reports was absolutely right! I enjoy smooth ride and acceleration as well. Hyundai did great job this time! Its not that 80s Hyundai any more! The quality has improved significantly. However the car is making a sloshing noise when the fuel tank is full. If you listen to music all the time, you probably dont notice the noise. But if you enjoy silence while you drive, you are not going to like this car. Beside the fuel tank noise, this car is great!...read morehide

- great looking, smooth ride, excellent acceleration and handling, very quiet
- gas mileage could be better
This car continues to impress me. I bought my '07 SE V6 two months ago and I couldn't be happier with it. I moved up from a 2000 Elantra and wow what a long way Hyundai has come! This car has tremendous handling and throws me back in my seat on a quick take off. I would have to say the overall quality and the interior rivals that of a BMW 525. Everyone compliments on the look of the car and it definately turns heads. I have the 17 inch alloy wheels which boosts the appearance. I live in central Illinois, and we just got hit with the worst snow storm since 1979 with 18 + inches in a lot of areas. The road crews could not keep up with the plowing, etc. This car handled better than some 4 X 4 SUV's I saw out there. I have the ETC and never once lost control, even on icy patches. I feel very safe and confident driving this car. I have an 18 month old son and it comforts me to know that I have top of the line safety features and a great crash test rating. Way to go Hyundai! I think they are going to surpass Honda and Toyota if they keep it up! The only negative aspect of the car so far is the gas mileage. I am getting on average about 20 - 21 mpg (about 75% highway driving). However, the car hasn't really been broken in yet (2,000 miles)and the temperatures have been in the single digits here. I hope that the mileage improves down the road....read morehide
