This is an excellent car. It looks good, drives well and is exceedlingly comfortable and roomy. The car is good for families, commuting, highway driving. A way to maximize fuel efficiency is to have the car operate under cruise control as much as possible. Cruise control will maximize the amount of time that the engine is in EV mode. This car is fantastic on highways and country roads. At set cruise control at 55mph it will get close to 48 mpg. On occassion, I have needed to catch a plane and set the Cruise Control at 75 mph and the car still gets about 42 mpg with the car going for miles at a time in EV mode. My wife does not like to use Cruise Control and she gets about 38 mpg in mixed driving - which is slightly better than the EPA rating. Note that except for determing the mpg for short trips of 50 miles of less at say 75 mph, that the mpg was determined by measuring the miles driven divided by the amount of gas consumed (measured by refilling the tank).
Of the standard features, I really like the Bluetooth hands free phone connection and the proximity detection/electronic ignition.
