Purchased As New
I bought my 2012 Sonata Hybrid after six years of owning a Toyota Camry Hybrid. I looked at the TCH and the Sonata on the same day and was truly impressed with the Sonata. Hyundai doesn't force option bundles on you like Toyota does.
The mileage with the '12 Sonata Hybrid is as good as or a little better than my Camry Hybrid was and the Sonata is a much more quiet vehicle. Hyundai uses a six speed automatic instead of a CVT so you don't get the whiney engine noise that you do with a Toyota. The six speed is also much more fun to drive than a CVT. Hyundai will run in EV mode at highway speeds while my Toyota forced the engine on a 40 mph.
Hyundai gives a lifetime warranty on the hybrid battery and includes most hybrid components in the 10 year/100k power train warranty. With Toyota I had to purchase an extended warranty to get that coverage.
Remember that when comparing this vehicle, you should compare to Camry Hybrid or Accord Hybrid. This is not a Prius or Honda Element - it's a different class of car.
