- Looks great, 6-speed, good sound system, quick, great on winding roads, price, warranty
- too much shifting with 6 spd, would love more hp, gas mileage just avg.
Like another reviewer here, I purchased my '05 Tiburon in the summer of this year, in June, and I decided not to write a true review until I could get a better feel for my new car and it's capabilities. Well, I can honestly tell you that I did a lot of research before buying this car, and I can proudly say that, for the money, this is hand's down the best car under $25k. I have a friend who just bought a Mazda 3 which is a sharp car, but just not sporty enough for me, and I can see the appreciation he has for my car on his face whenever I pull up. The new Tiburon is a beautiful car (I'm not crazy at all about models made pre-2003, luckily for me this is a completely different car), especially with the very few aesthetic improvements I made after purchasing it (i.e. window tint, shorter billet antenna, and Tuscani emblems on hood and trunk), now it looks amazing (it's Midnight Blue, and by the way I strongly recommend getting some tint for this car, it adds a whole new dimension to it). I will start with the positive's: obviously the price, the looks which I love, the sound system is amazing considering it comes with the car (MP3 Player), the fact that it's a 6-speed, and the way it handles-- it feels very solid throughout, especially on winding roads.
Now for the negatives; you want to avoid this car if you plan on having more than one passenger when you're driving as there is no backseat. The seats themselves are great because they incorporate a leather with a mesh cloth, however, after long rides my back does get pretty sore. Another downfall with the SE model in particular is that you find yourself shifting an awful lot in daily driving, the first gear basically doesn't exist and often I find myself starting in 2nd gear to save time. On a positive note, having that extra gear when you get up to between 60-80 mph is awesome because it lowers the RPM, and this car has no problems going to 120 mph within a reasonable RPM. The accelleration is an issue, however, as it does feel a bit sluggish off the line due to all the shifing required, however, once you get going it definitely moves-- and quickly. Overall, I don't regret the choice I made at all, as I truly feel that this is a lot of car and a lot of options for the money I spent on it. if I had a larger budget to work with I probably would be driving a 350Z, but I do not and regardless I am extremely happy with my choice, and I get positive comments all the time on my car....read morehide

- Attractive Looks, Great Handling, Great Brakes, Sleek Design
- Moderate Gas Mileage, Interior rattles, Needs A Few Horsepower
The 2005 Hyundai Tiburon is a terrific car for the price. I bought mine in July of 05 and waited to write this report until I had read other peoples and got time to make a suond report about this car.
For the average person who is looking for a sporty car for a good price, the 05 Tiburon SE is the perfect car. It is not a gas saver, and is not ment to be or it would be a 5 speed 4 cyl like the base models. The gas mileage is desent non the less. There are minor interior rattles when the windows are down or if you add an aftermarket stereo. The stock stereo is perfect in every way but one. It could use a factory subwoffer. The seats are comfortable and will wrap you up if you have a small frame. The seats might be uncomfortable if you were a bigger person. The gauges are upfront and make tht sporty feel flow throught the car. The exterior is a mix between a Ferari and a 350Z.
From a racers standpoint, which is what I bought my car for, it lacks in horsepower and could really use a factory short shifter. The exhaust note is unique but a cold air and Borla Cat back system make this car not only sound good but gives it the extra horsepower it deserves.
I have a performance ECU, 55mm Throttle body, cold air, short shifter, wide body kit, wheels spacers, in dash dvd, 2 10" subs and 700 watt amp in custom box, and my car will keep up with any non turbo car including 350z's, and will stay will many turbo cars. I am waiting for my exhaust and alpine supercharger right know and when said and done I will be pushing about 400 hp....read morehide

- Great, sporty car for the money. Good gas mileage, ride, feel, acceleration.
- A little for more power. Rotors expensive. Dealers/Service leave alot to be desired.
Liked the first Tiburon I bought ~ bought one for my wife. Will buy a Tiburon again. This car is FUN.

- great performance on the mountain switchbacks, good support from seats, exc brakes, and transmission
- would like to see 200+ HP, some interior rattles@ HIGH volume music
My SE cost me a tad bit over 20k, and if I add an Alpine supercharger @ 9psi I can get 280 wheel HP for an additional $4,500.(installed) this will put the car above corvette performance for less than $25,000 - you do the math! My insurance bills me as the car is a econo coupe so I dont see the high cost of ins for a sports car. this is not a car that will frequent LOWES, COSTCO, or SAMS CLUB, but it will get me to point B in a fun and expedicious way. I had the car for a month before I took it on the local mountain switchbacks and I was very pleased that with some effortless steering and agressive shifting I was able to traverse the mountain at 90 mph through most of the turns. In most intersections without traffic I am able to make an 90 deg. right or left turn at 45 mph with some understeer, but the car seems to hold very well. There are other options available to increase the suspensions performance into supercar grip and braking such as coil overs, bigger sway bars, strut braces, and slotted and vented larger brakes. The Kenwood stereo,cd,mp3 player is nice and easy to hook up aux amplifiers for subs - it comes with a low and high pass X-over built in for fine tuning and ballancing multi-amp systems.
I have added a custom Magnaflow 2.5" CAT-BACK dual exhaust and a K and N air filter; the torgue gauge shows my torge to be 210lbs at full throttle and the power is a noticable change. mods = $275.00
I have had an excellent experience with my local dealer San Bernardino Hyundai as anytime I go in for service or small adjustment my car is washed and delivered clean and tidy with a minimum of wait....read morehide

- Good looks, quick, good sound system, very responsive
- High torque changes the steering dynamics while shifting gears
I've had a my 2005 SE since January, and I love it. I've had a few minor electrical problems with it, but the dealer took care of it under warranty. This car has plenty of get up and go. It's very responsive in turns, and handles well in traffic. The high torque changes the steering dynamics while shifting gears, so don't punch it in a turn cause you might wind up in another lane. If you're looking for a good car at a reasonable price, this is the car for you. Definately worth every penny....read morehide

- Standard features, unique styling, solidly built
- Bulky doors, V6 could use a few more horses
3rd Hyundai purchased in two years, probably one of the best cars I've ever owned. Looked at the new Mustangs but the quality doesn't even come close to the Tiburon. Got the Yellow SE and absolutely love it. Very fun to drive. The V6 has enough power to get around and the exhaust sounds great. I would have loved 225+ HP for the engine, but then again for the price I now have enough money left over for a few add-ons to boost that up. If you are considering any other cars like the Mustang, Eclipse, RX-8 or 350Z look no further, the Tiburon is the best bang for the buck. It's thousands less, well built, has excellent crash ratings and has an unbeatable warranty. And, if you're so image-conscious that the Hyundai name still has a stigma, get some Toscani emblems for the car (the name the car goes under in some other parts of the world) and most people will think it is an exotic car....read morehide

- Beautiful car, performs well, comes with great warranty and looks great even stock!
- Rides rough on bad ground, and could use a lil more hourses although the tourq is good.
I bought the 2004 Gs-r v6. Its a great car. Really awsome. Looks great and performs very well even on the curvy roads where i live. Handles great and takes off awsome but gets lazy on fourth gear but once u throw 5th ur flying once more =]. I love da car and wouldnt trade it for anything in da world.... well maybe a viper or something. But in the 'affordable range' this car is awsome. And has a GREAT warranty, although i dought ill be using it. Car is built very well from what i see....read morehide
