2005 Hyundai Tucson User Reviews
LX 2.7 4WD shown
- $4,836 - $7,757
- looks, finish
- bumpy ride
fuel economy is terrible; sticker says 20-26mpg; i'm getting 15 in city and lucky to get 19-20 on the highway. very disappointed in that especially with increase in fuel prices. could have bought a bigger and roomier vehicle if I knew the mileage would be so poor

- Good equipment, drives like a car, very comfy, drives well, equip you pay extra for norm IS norm
- Gas economy low 17-20 to gallon, shiftronic useless in Florida
I love my tucson, other than gas economy it has lived up to expectations, both my wife and I are happy. We have a same stick if we need to save gas. Luv the sunroof.

I like this vehicle, but I have had it for less than a month and i noticed that the heater makes a whistling noise when i turn it on low. I went to take it in to get fixed, but the service manager told me that the noise is normal. I even called Hyundai Corporate and they have done nothing to help me with the problem. I drive an hour to work and I have to turn the radio up real loud just so I don't have to hear it. I am very disappointed....read morehide

- Nice feel, Handles well, very room seating, reclining rear seats, fold forward pass. seat
- poor acceleration, not many storage area for driver
I have had my tucson for one week. If I had to do it all over I would have gone with the bigger engine or the Sante Fe. The engine pauses upon acceleratoin from a stop or when passing. Transmission has to down shift to often to keep up with high speeds on interstate. (avg 70 in louisiana). Seriously conside the GLX with a bigger engine and more horse power. The Tucson GLS has the smallest 6 cylinder in the compact SUV market. It didn't know this at the time of my purchase.
I travel about 50k per year. My old Jeep Grand Cherokee, 98 model, had 235,000 miles and was in the shop for major repairs more than three times under 100,000 miles. My only reason to get the Hyundai was the warranty. I hope it pays off in the end.
The Monson stereo is over rated. no serious volume. The A/C and heating controls are easy to use. I find the wipers controls extend too far past steering wheel and have be turned on accidently several times. Cruise Control works fine. Rear wipers great....read morehide

- Great looks, comfortable drive, twin tail-exhaust, sun-blocking extentions across visor, etc..
- The front side windows could use more tint.
I like this better than my '94 Pathfinder and my '03 Acura RSX. It has an excellent ride, sufficient accelleration, nice attention to detail such as 3 holes in the windshield wiper fluid sprayer instead of 1 (for better coverage), easy access controls, adjustable armrest, separate rear gate and rear window openers, etc........At 170 inches long it's actually shorter than my 172 inch acura RSX but feels much bigger and a lot more spacious. Easy to fit in the garage with plenty of room to spare, better turning radius than my RSX at ~35 ft vs. 38 for the RSX. The Tucson is easy to drive, park, maneuver, and as of today, excellent handling in the snow. Try as I may, I could not get it to slip & slide. I really, really like it....so far. My favorite feature is that the rear seats fold perfectly flat to provide a roomy cargo storage area. Hopefully the new found Hyundai quality is long term....read morehide

- Best value, sporty, safety features
- none yet
We have had our new Tucson for one month and have had no problems. I love how this vehicle handles and looks. We wanted an SUV but since I am the primary driver I didn't want a large one. This vehicle has all the features we wanted. We looked at all others, CRV, Escape, Equinox etc.. and found the Tucson to be the best for the price. We have received many compliments on it....read morehide

- Nice firm ride, well equiped, I purchased a Sahara Silver one for $20,395.00
- No Cons
This Vehicle is the culmination of my search for quality, price and comfort. I used Consumer Reports, Kellys Blue Book, NADA and Edmunds in my quest. Where I came out as the satisfied consumer.
Good Luck to all new Vehicle buyers!

I just picked up my Tucson three days ago and so far I've been very satisfied. I bought the lx 4wd and I think just a bit more power would be nice. I think 200 horses would do. I haven't been able to figure the mileage yet. The ride is excellent and the up graded stereo sounds great. I like the value compared with other models. I got the blue with the grey leather and it looks great. I am in the market for a trailer hitch and push bar but so far there are no aftermarket companies....read morehide

- High, Spacious, lots of compartments, solid design
- Ride is a little bumpy.
Wish it comes with more choice of colours. The version in Singapore does not come with sun-roof. Otherwise it will really stand out on the road. Heard it is the best selling SUV in Singapore.

- Very impressive safety features, handles well, nicely appointed dashboard.
- No power driver's seat, no lighted vanity mirrors, interior had an extremely harsh plastic smell.
With the exception of finding an oil leak the first week I owned my vehicle, I enjoy driving my Tucson. It does appear to shift alot though, perhaps due to the smaller v-6 engine. If I were to do it all over again, I would have opted for the leather seats and something with power seats. I like the 60,000-6 year warantee. However if you opt for the 10,000-10 year, you pay extra for this. All in all probably the best value in a compact SUV, and the standard safety features are worth giving this one a test drive....read morehide
