2012 Hyundai Veloster User Reviews
- No trim specified for this review
- Styling, room, fuel economy
- Not a muscle car but isn't trying to be, rear view takes getting used to, no heated seats
Purchased As New
Purchased the Veloster with the Style Package (forget the Tech Package as you can buy a GPS and rear-view camera for less than the 2 grand it adds to the price). The third door makes rear seat (usable by adults) access easy and allows use of a car seat in a coupe style vehicle (if you still have little ones). The interior is stylish and comfortable (got the two-tone red/black). Open the hatch and drop the rear seats for some serious cargo room. Controls are logically laid out and the Bluetooth/Entertainment screen is easily learned. The seats adjust through a wide range using all manual controls. I'd like to have had heated seats (which I understand are coming with the 2013 model) but it wasn't a deal-breaker. The panoramic sunroof is awesome. Handling is tight and secure. Every review I've read slams this car for being under-powered. Sure, there's a turbo model on the horizon, but probably for several grand more and less fuel economy. For everyday driving there's sufficient power, and the dual-clutch automatic keeps the car from creeping forward when at a stop if you don't have your foot on the brake. The paddle-shifters can really help transmit the power more efficiently if you learn to use them. All this in a package under $22 grand with a great warranty.
