- Good mpg, lots of room, nice GO! power when I need it.
- warranty maintenance can be pricey, interior getting worn
Purchased As New
We purchased the Veracruz in July '07. It was love at first test drive. I enjoy having the option to cruise along at nearly 80mph getting 23+ mpg. The ride is so smooth if I don't set the cruise control I find myself well above the posted limit, lol. In addition to the nice ride, though, I have the ability to punch it! and weave through the pesky semis and "sunday drivers" if I need to, it has great pickup and I like the power. It is also handy to have the room to separate the 5,7,13, and 16 year old, who all turn into 2 year olds on long trips. Speaking of road trips, I average 24/25 mpg on long interstate drives and between 20.7 and 21.7 mpg on most every tank (errands, school drop-off/pick-up, etc). I often get compliments on the appearance and am very happy overall, although the interior has taken a beating from the children and is worn on the driver's armrest and console where I rest my elbows. Also, I find the 15, 30, 45 and 60K maintenance visits (a few hundred $ each) to be dampening to my enthusiasm.... momentarily. And as a little note, I feel a teensy bit superior to the smaller Hyundai SUVs 'cause I know I am getting almost as good mileage, but I have more muscle;-) I guess size really does matter, lol...read morehide

- Very nice driving car/SUV, good gas mileage (up to 26mpg)
- Needed electric lift gate (rear), nicer covers for seating
I have owned my Veracruz for four months and have 7,600 miles on it. I love to drive it and it performs well in all traffic situations.

- Comfort in Ride, very silent, very smooth, good pickup, big and beautiful
- Should also come in V8 version
I also own Honda Pilot 2006. If I compare both Hyundai Veracruz is Powerful, smooth, and had good 18/19 MPG. Pilot is a boring vehicle. Gas mileage is horrible and It lacks off power. I got about 5 mile less than what the manufacturer has listed. Me and my wife fights who will drive Hyundai Veracruz to the job, and believe me we didnt want to drive Honda Pilot.
Before we bought Hyundai Veracruz, I was planning to buy Toyota 4Runner / Nissan Murano
I tried both, but when I test drive Hyundai Veracruz there was no comparison. Hyundai is the best.
I suggest you should go and look at the VERA CRUZ. This car has amazing pickup, I can't keep his foot out of it. And the room is so nice, sunroof, interiors are so good, gives you feeling of a luxury vehicle. the smooth, quiet ride more than makes up for this. Plus, we saved nearly $8,000 by bypassing the Toyota....read morehide

- Satellite radio, rear comfort controls & vents. Rear map lights.
- 60-40 rear seat split doesn't work well with seat covers.
There are enough standard options that you don't have to add more.
It is the perfect vehicle for comfort and room. A great family SUV.

- quiet ride, roomy, value
- No specials since it's new
I just replaced my BMW 528iT with the Veracruz. I tested so many - CRV, Pilot, Pacifica, Edge, CX7, Highlander, X3, X5 and the Santa Fe.
None were quite right. I pulled into the lot to test the Santa Fe again and I saw the Veracruz - so sharp looking! I drove it and I knew this was the one for me.
The third row seats are so easy to use and the 2nd row slides forward to make accessing the third row a snap. 3rd row can actually fit full-size adults.
I love the large mirrors that improve visability.
The seat belts are easy for little kids to buckle. Center seat has shoulder harness, not just a lap belt like so many others and doesn't come out of the ceiling creating another blind spot like some newer models.
Plenty of room for my tall husband, kids and friends....read morehide
