Purchased As New
The new M will make you feel lucky, fortunate, and glad you purchased it. I've read/seen more car reviews, magazines, videos than anybody can imagine...4 words TEST DRIVE ONE YOURSELF! Most reviews are decently accurate to a certain degree depending on the focus of the review but for example does the Sport Package's 20in wheels make the ride harsh, heck no! The ride feels sporty! Sportier than a non-Sport M. It's not "harsh". The Sport model's ride is very luxurious but with an edge. The non-Sport model doesn't have that "edge" to it that the Sport model does, but it's not supposed to! Why pay 3K extra for a Sport model and not notice a difference?
Here's a quick summary from someone who drove extensively the 5 Series, Lexus GS & LS, Benz E Class, Hyundai Genesis & Equus before purchasing...they all have their niches and faults. But, to me, the Infiniti M has all of the previous cars strengths with fewer faults than all, & most importantly at a lower price than all except for the Genesis (which is getting close to 50K with sport & options now). I would say the M rides now rides more like the Lexus LS, Toyota Avalon or Benz E class in non-Sport trim but with the handling and body roll capability that's closer to a BMW. There's a floaty quiet sense in the non-Sport model but with a little bitty gritty edge.
The Sport model enters the Ultimate Driving Machine status with the handling. Its superb! It is outstanding!! If you're driving 100mph, your hands feel like your driving 65mph. Is it better than BMW? That's up to each individuals opinion but drive both and I don't think you'll feel 3oz of difference. But the luxury is still in the Sport model! The ride in the new M Sport feels similar to the outgoing non-sport M but with a ton of gritty edge that was not present before even in the outgoing M's sport package. The ride has been refined all the way around and it's a beacon for what I think a car should ride like and sound like. You'll feel happy driving this car everyday!
Option packages speak for themselves. An M can be had with everything under the sun except for a front view camera and panoramic sunroof. Everything else for driver and passenger comfort is in place. 2012 & 2011 models are the same except for color scheme options. Features, mechanics are all the same. Finance options are great year round. You can't go wrong with an M. Now if I had to have 1 problem with the M because nothings perfect, it would be the fuel door opener. I'd prefer to push a button, similar to the trunk button on the inside of the cabin instead of gently pushing the fuel door with my finger. Why?? Because I might get my finger dirty. But all Infiniti Models fuel door's operate like this so that's a current trademark of the Infiniti brand and I can accept and live with that.
Other than that, I don't see what there could possibly be to dislike the M except the "class" status people keep talking about that may come with a Benz or Lexus, etc. but let me say this, when someone see's the M in a parking lot or rolling down the street, they will definitely know that a luxury car is among them. It's fresh and looks like it belongs in the 21st Century. And believe me, people will know that a fat wad of money must have been spent on that car.
