- The design, the power, the handling... are all superior.
- The material used for the upper dash could be more sophisticated.

- Standard Navigation & Rearview Backup Camera, Fresh/Modern Interior, Lots Of Leg Room, Car-Like Ride
- Exterior Styling A Bit Odd, Still Nissan Armada-ish, Lacks Some Superficial Luxury Features
I test drove two of these QX56's within the past few weeks, a 2004 (first year production) and a 2005 which are virtually the same except a couple option changes and the addition of active head rests on '05 models. I was very impressed with it overall. These things come fully loaded, not many options to add. One of these maxed out would cost you as much as an entry level Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator. The Navigation system is cool and it doesnt cost you extra to get it, plus the rear backup camera this SUV has is awesome, very handy and also standard on 2005 models. I do not believe the Navigator or Escalade have a factory backup camera option, only sonar audio warning, which the Infiniti includes too. The ride on the Infiniti QX56 is superior; you forget you are driving such a massive SUV. I liked the interior, it is about on par with the Navigator, however, it blows the Escalade's dated interior away. I don't have many negative things to say about the QX56, but heres what I can think of that you might not like. The exterior styling is different to say the least. You'll either love it or hate it. As you might know, the QX56 is basically an upscale version of the Nissan Armada, it shares the same chassis, and overall body shape. I felt Infiniti could have diversified the exterior of the QX56 more. The front end is very sharp and different, however the sides are nearly identical to the Armada, except the addition of chrome stripes on the lower portion of the doors. Speaking of the doors, the rear doors on the QX56 follow Nissan's trademark upper side positioned door handle styling cues. I'd assume if you have small children, they might have trouble reaching the handles. The rear is also similar to the Nissan, except the license plate frame is positioned on the mid/lower portion of the liftgate instead of the bumper, it's sharper looking though. The interior of the QX is more like a luxury overhaul of the Armada's, but as I've said before, it blows away the Escalade's. Most all of the controls are the same for both the Armada and the QX56, except the Infiniti is wrapped in a much more fancy package. Lots of wood and aluminum accents, slightly modified dash and center console, uplevel seating, however the 3rd row bench seat looks like it wasnt given much attention in the overhaul, as its virtually the same as the Nissan. Some may say the knobs on the QX56 are a bit cheap and still too much cheap plastic is kept over from the Armada. The QX56 does not have power folding 3rd row seats as the Navigator has, and it does not have power folding side mirrors, but to me, the lack of those isnt a big deal. I've seen the QX56 can be confused with the Armada when you see one driving by, it's not as different on the outside as say the Escalade and a Chevy Tahoe. However, I must still give Infiniti props for producing a very sharp overall, fair priced, luxury full-size SUV that I can't see anyone disliking it. Well Done....read morehide

- gas mileage/ loud engine is scary for some drivers
This is a great car that is amazing in all categories. Infiniti is a more reliable company than any other American SUV and much better than the Lexus Lx, Escalade, Navigatorand any other Large SUV. It is even cheaper than all the others. Its a no brainer the Infiniti beats all other competitors.
