Great Car-Horrible Ride

by susan crawford from san diego, ca (9/27/08)
Pros:Love the style and all the features. Drivers seat is very comfortable.
Cons:Poor fuel ecomomy and ride is way to stiff.

Bought my 2008 two months ago. It is used with 13,000 miles. So far my combined mileage is around 19 miles per gallon. Re set the MPG calculator back to zero and just drove around town. Didn't even get 10 mpg.

The ride is horrible on bumpy surfaces as many roads and freeways are these days. On a smooth road it's wonderful.

If I cannot find a solution to soften the ride I will need to sell it. Just beats you to death over poor surfaces.

g35 best bang for the buck compared to 335

by Satmanski from Denver CO (9/14/08)
Pros:NO RUN FLATS!!!!great acceleration, super smooth ride, most bang for the buck, excellent handling
Cons:best acceleration comes high in the RPM range

I had my heart set and money in hand for a 335xi. I test drove many cars just to be a responsible consumer (and its fun, of course). For various personal reasons I always came back to the 335. I went to the Infiniti dealer and drove an awd model. It was fun but softer than the 335. However, when i got into an AWD Sport model that was it. The handling is fantastic, the power and manual shift mode of the auto were matched wonderfully. I can only describe it like this...I could immediately drive it like i had owned it for years. The dealership let me take it overnight (why dont they all do that?) and i was sold.

One of the main selling points was the lack of run flat tires. I live in CO and drive a lot. The run flat tires are advertised as 50mph for 50 miles...oh boy that will almost, ALMOST get me home from a long mountain trip. No spare, no tools, just bmw assist oh wait...no cell phone service in a lot of places here. hmmm I could get a spare and throw it in the trunk and have that and the tools smashing my groceries and golf clubs and fly rod but why should i have to accommodate to bmw's defined boundaries.

The G35AWD Sport was everything i wanted in the bmw and a lot extra, the car looks great (matter of opinion of course), has plenty of power and gets decent fuel economy. Maybe I got lucky or maybe it was because i was careful during my break in period but I get 28-29 highway and 24 combined. I can set my watch to it. Ive quit checking every fill up because i know what the numbers will be. I recently had to fill up with 87 since that was all the station had and I honestly cant tell a difference. Its the first time ive done it and dont plan to repeat it but its nice to know i wont hear knocks immediately.

This car is just a lot more car for the money. I know the new E92 motor can take me. Its an amazing creation, but even with my 'weak' g35 i get about 4 seconds of flooring it and then the car commercial is over and I am exceeding the speed limit. Do your homework and check the reviews.

GREAT CAR, more of a sport than luxury.

by Mohamed Jamal from Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain (8/05/08)
Pros:Great looks, powerfull engine, excellent sound system, nice interior.
Cons:Poor outdoor sound reduction, a bit expensive in my country, poor fuel consumption.

Buying this car was one of my best disicions I have made yet. It is very good on the road, handles pleasently, and gives you monstrouse power when needed. I enjoy the clear crisp sound generated by the 8 Bose speakers, and I belive it is best to buy the full option (NAV, Bluetooth, sunroof) for the complete luxuriouse experiance. The best color in my opinion is full black (exterior, and interior) gives it that rugged and luxurious look.

2008 G35. The good and the not so good

by MarkWilson from Winston-Salem, NC (8/04/08)
Pros:Lots of features in base price. Handles well. Fast response from engine. Looks Great!
Cons:Poor fuel economy. Seat uncomfortable on long trip. Nav. system worst I've used.

I love the look and feel of this car. We compared to BMW and thought it offered more. I still feel this way but...

The good part:
Looks great coming and going. Handles well and will flat out move.
The electronics are very well designed w/ the exception of the Nav system. The fit and finish of the car is excellent in all regards. Controls are easy to learn and well designed. I think if you are not looking to travel out of town with this car and don't mind the low fuel mileage you won't find a better made/looking car at this price point.

The not so good part:
Fuel mileage. 20mpg around town. Had for 6 months and never got any better. My wife drives it most and has a light touch. On highway trips averaging 70mph or so we get around 26-27 mpg. My V8 SUV get same mpg around town.

The Navigation system is an expensive dissapointment.. You Most features are 'locked' while car is moving. Imagine cruising the highway with spouse and deciding to find an upcoming restaurant. Must pull of the road to do so. If you make a wrong turn the system goes in STANDBY and no longer navigates. NO warning. 100 miles later you wonder if its working-- nope. We travel with a portable Garmin unit now and compare recommended routes to places we 'know'. Hands down the Infinity always gets it wrong for best route. Garmin almost always gets it right. This system is not recommended.

The seats cause leg fatigue on long trips. Just took our first long trip. Looking forward to some comfort. Not from these seats. I noticed it first. Fatigue in thighs and legs. Wife agreed on way home. Seats are uncomfortable for long rides. Very disappointing to say the least.

The floor mat on drivers side will not stay attached to retainer post. The mat constantly works it's way up the floor to pedal area. Dealer admits same issue with other owners but has not provided fix.

Front tire wear will be an issue on the 18'' wheels. Since they can not be rotated with the rear tires I expect to replace them more often than the rear tires. This is evident after only 9000 miles.

2008 G35

by Vikrant from Concor, CA (7/20/08)
Pros:Great Power, Smooth Turns, Better than BMW or MB
Cons:Fuel, small trunk

Love my G35. It is a sedan, but drives like a sports car. Keep it below 100. I have driven 110 and not felt anything

Great Car.

by Marshall from El Paso. TX/ Detroit, MI. (7/07/08)
Pros:Smooth ride, head turning style, great handling, good top end speed.
Cons:Not very fuel efficient, small trunk.

I own the G35S. This car is awesome. I got it with the navigation package and rear camera, both not needed but cool to have. I looked at the Lexus IS350 also, but you get more for you money with the G35. Wish it was a little faster off the line, but it accelerates nicely at higher speeds. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Best in Class

by Jak from Villanova, PA (6/17/08)
Pros:Performance and handling are better than any BMW and Mercedes I have owned or driven in this class.
Cons:Body dings and scrapes noticeable in black.

I have owned many european cars prior to the Infinity and would never consider them again. The reliability allows me to go further with confidence and when I go in for service I am no longer zinged with all those expensive unforseen "minor" repairs one comes to expect from the German manufacturers. Not only was the price/performance outstanding but I am now 100% confident driving in all types of weather and all road conditions, especially wet and icy roads and cruves. The styling is quiet nice including extremely comfortable leather seating.

beats the BMW, Mercedes in looks/power/braking

by Len Durst from Eastampton, new jersey (6/11/08)
Pros:fast, great handling sedan that is fun to drive, plenty of pwer and the all wheel drive gives added
Cons:small trunk space

Great styling and paint, and trim. Great in city, rural desert, and mountain diving.

Leaves the German sedans in the dust.

My 2008-GS-35

by Jo Ann from So. West Coast, Fl. (6/05/08)
Pros:The quick take off, sharp design-inside & out, value for the money...
Cons:None so far....

This Automobile is everything I was looking for...Test drove the
following: Audi 4, BMW 3 series, Jaguar XF, MB 350, & Lexis IS
None came close...Love the Nav.,Back up Camera, and the XM
radio with the Studio on Wheels...the fact that I can record up to 2,900
CD's is a plus also...Have had the car about a month now and am
enjoying it more each day...The Liquid Platinum, with the Stone and
Graphite Leather compliments the Washi-finish Aluminum beautifully..
IMO this car is a total 10...and I would not hesitate sending anyone
to have a look, and a test drive....
