This is my third brand new Jag, and all of them had just way too many squeaks, rattles and noises that dealer is usually reluctant to identify, and, regardless, they rarely get fixed. Noises come on and off oftentimes, and get really, really annoying. For example, I've had problem with the sunroof rattling on all three cars (01 S-Type, 05 S-Type, and 04 XJ8), dealer usually lubricates it but that lasts only a week or a month and rattling comes back on. I�ve also had problems with both front seats on XJ. Trunk is smaller than one might expect, though it does house a full-size spare. Car doesn�t do too well in the snow and even rain since it�s a rear-wheel drive. The same goes for cornering. Other that that the car is awesome. I love its British-style real luxury cabin (much unlike modern crap you�ll find on BMW and Audi). Leather is plush, wood looks great, seats are comfortable (I�m 6�1�), base sound system is pretty good, ride is both quiet and sporty (though my engine seems to have gotten bit louder in the past 13 months). All-aluminum body is lightweight yielding great fuel economy (I�ve averaged almost 22 mpg so far, not too shabby for 300-hp). I absolutely love the stance of this car, though you must get the 18� wheels, anything smaller takes away from the looks. Lease payment on this car can be comparatively low - I�m probably paying less than what I would�ve paid on 530 or E320. The car in general is right sized, and parking is a breeze with rear-parking sensors. Auto windshield wipers work like a charm. In general, it�s an all-new cat with old-school charm, brilliantly simple and agile without too much useless electronic garbage. If you are a perfectionist, believe me, rattles will get on your nerves, but the look in the rear view mirror as you leave wannabes in the dust (with style, I might add) may trump that....read morehide

Don't buy one unless you know for sure you will never have a collision whether you hit someone or get hit by. Jaguar has severely limited number of body shops authorized to fix these aluminum bodies. There are only a handful of these shops in all of the greater Los Angeles area, for instance. that is about seven counties-plus. The closest one for me is an hour and a half away. At least I was able to drive mine. What about the extra expenses if I had to have it towed that distance! What a bad deal for consumers. It's inconvinient, and the consummers have no choice. And all the parts have to be ordered even at these authoirized places. Truely a bad decision by Jagur management. No wonder Jaguar is bleeding....read morehide

I have recently had a Merc S class, BMW 7 series and Range Rover Vogue. I was dissapointed with all 3. I was looking for the quality of the Mercedes from the 1980s but it wasn't there. In exacerbation I bought the Jaguar XJ8 in my quest to find a quality prestige sedan. Wow ! I think this is it. Sure, I was wary about depreciation and low residuals as possibly a sign that these Cars lacked the integrity of the German competitors. This may have been true of previous models, but this all aluminium XJ8 is deeply impressive in terms of structural rigidity and light weight manoevrability on the road. So far no squeeks or rattles that plagued my last 7 series and S class. No electronic problems that plagued the 7 series. It's looks are retro, but I actually appreciate this in a world that seems obscessed with retractable DVD screens and sloping dash boradsmade of cheap plastic. This car is the best of traditional olde-world quality with modern manufacturing. I am converted, and never thought I would be. The motoring world must wake up to the fact that Jaguar XJs offer those of us who are maturing beyond the bland Germans a very real alternative....read morehide

- smooth, tight ride, glides over RR tracks. Excellent stereo.
This is our third Jag, and by far the best. The ride is exquisite. My only peeves are one, the "valet" button, which secures glove box and trunk, is too close to the heated seat controls. I often hit this button inadvertantly locking everything up. It should be in its own area. And two, for the body style, I think the JAG hood ornament is set too far back on the hood. And three, the rear wheel drive makes this vehicle a real challenge to drive in the winter. Other than these minor things, this car is a true beauty....read morehide

This is my third Jag and superior in every way to its predecessors; the aluminum body provides incredible stiffness with no shake or vibration at all. The base - not Bose - stereo sounds as good as anything I've heard. The sport seats surround you in a way that makes the bigness of the car feel smaller - and that is good. The trunk is huge. And, compared with Audi, Mercedes and BMW, dealers are providing significant discounts. I am hooked....read morehide
