2006 Jaguar XK-Series

- Awesome powerplant, great comfort and everything is standard.
- Body roll more than one likes when driving aggressively.
Some say this car is archaic, but to me it is a modern classic. This particular trim and variant is at the pinnacle of development. The car is refined in every possible way within the limitations of its decade old design. That said, here comes the nit picky part, they could have ditched the cassette deck but alas Jaguar must have had a lot of these head units in their inventory,
Acceleration and brakes are great, suspension for hard cornering needs help but for coast highway driving and boulevard cruising the ride is excellent. All-in-all it is an extremely competent and comfortable Grand Touring car.
Sure the new XK is a technological marvel and is lighter stiffer and faster, but the classic resemblance to the XKE is all but lost and I will park my 06 Victory Edition next to any 07 and be more than pleased.
One thing that is, and always will be, tough to beat is its ample, yes ample, trunk space. We recently went on a week long trip to Phoenix and Las Vegas. Two sets of golf clubs, 2 duffle bags, 2 tote bags, a carry on suitcase, a garment bag and a case of wine all fit, even with the top down. Of course we had to put some things in the back seat but thats okay because honestly, that is all it is good for.
Still the outgoing XK lineup has the best in class trunk space top up/down of any, a key factor when you want to escape for a while.
I am glad the new XK is out it makes me appreciate my 06 that much more!
