I purshaced a 2008 4.7l v8 4x2 JC leather, dvd... I've been looking at this car sisnce it came out so I already knew alot of its defects, which are minor for my life stile. Before I purshased I had an Isuzu Axiom 2003 witch I love and change for 2 reasons. One I hated the suspension, it was very bumpy and second I was so slippery on the road it was like having soap on the tires and those are the 2 maid reasons I bought the commander. My husband has a 2007 cherokee and before that he had a liberty limited. Both cars are unbelivably great. I couldnt belive the full eficiency of both, the suspension for a jeep its like running on air. I live in PR and all road ar off road, bumpy, bad construction, hole everywere, its like been off road even in the highway. So pros smooth ride, confortable, I cant ask for more for the money. I mean I has from bluetooth, mp3, usb, touh screen, dvd, back up cam, heatedseats.... for around 30k. I looked at everything from toyoya highlander , to honda pilot, to Lexus Rx, and non have all of that. I think Honda and toyota are rediculus over priced and to plain and simple. The re-sale value of jeep? big deal. If I get 8k more or less on in in five years it depresiat around 20k. If a buy a 55k Lexus in five year I can get around 15k or 20k and thats 25k to 30k it depresiated, and same goes for Honda and Toyota.
Cons. Gas its not the best, but its not the worst, but hello you dont buy a commander for its full ef. I think that the touch screen its a safety hazard I feal tempted to keep looking and brousing my thousands of music I have on it. I already knew that bad visability backwards, rear road its a jock, I havend sat on the rear seats but people tell me its good, cargo room even with all seats down its small, no place to hide things when I'm out shopping, sunbisor its tu far foward and I cant look at my self in the miror. But hey I dont have any kids and not planing on it, Its only my husband and I so from re rear back I dont realy use, but just been honest with you. A bit of geting us to the with of it, and the V8, and just buy it a few weeks ago so hope it come out as good as the cheroke and liberty. On both cherokee and commander the seat belt post is to low, youll see what I mean one you get on it. Over all I knew what I was buying and turned ot as espected and very happy....read morehide

- Fuel economy better than expected. Ride and comfort are excellent. Great highway vehicle.
- V6 needs a little more power.
I bought the Jeep Commander Sport because my family and I wanted a roomy road vehicle to go on trips. We are a family of 4 so we opted for 5 passenger seating instead of 7. The cargo room is awesome without the rear seats. My teenage boys love the rear seating, they call it stadium seats because they sit up higher than in the front and the seats recline. Fit and finish is very good on both interior and exterior. Standard equipment is plentiful on this model with all of the popular creature comforts. Quality of materials is very good too. V6 engine could use a little more power for off the line, but on the highway it is more than enough. Vehicle will creep up easily to 90mph if you're not careful. Overall an excellent vehicle for the money paid; took advantage of Chrysler's big sales event at the end of September. I scoured the internet and dealers for weeks looking for a deal and even considered used, but after researching the Commander, the search was over. Coming up on 4 months and 4,000 miles and not a single problem with this vehicle....read morehide

- Quiet, excellent power, roomy inside, easy to drive, great truck
- Gas milage, and horrible blind spots.
I love my jeep and am very happy I got it. The power is there when you need it, the interior is comfortable, and it can handle itself in any weather. I definatly feel safe in it and have no worries on the road. The only downfall to the Jeep is the gas milage, which Jeep is notorious for horrible gas milage so I knew that before I bought it. It also has horrible blind spots on both sides. I bought the small convex mirrors to combat the problem and it seemed to have fixed the problem....read morehide

- Very reliable, I have not had any issues with this vehicle since I bought it. Excellent Quality
- A little tight in the 3rd row, but plenty of storage when the seat is folded flat
Great Vehicle. Good looking and very reliable. Excellent off road capability. If you have been thinking about buying one, go for it. You will not be sorry. This is another example in my opinion of the quality being as good or better than any import including the Range Rover, or any Toyota / Honda / Nissan etc....read morehide

- No trim specified for this review
- rain sensing wipers/ headlights automaticly adjust highbeam to normal
- after the first years release they should have made gas tank larger
i would never say it got bad gas mileage, as it got what i expected. options that come on a fully loaded v8 4wd option are amazing for the money, and i think the most available for the money. far more than most mercedes. love the power and control of the v8 hemi. i do wish the leg room in the middle was a few inches more but my teens loved it. the drivers head rest bothered me like an airplane. spluring to make sure all backseat passengers have wireless headsets for the movie is worth it so you can listen to what you want. if you have had 4wd in other suv's you know it handles different in each suv. this was the safest i ever felt. our neighbors got stuck in our street with their ford, and chevy trucks when our developemnt didnt get plowed after 2 snows in a row. both our jeeps got out like cake! far better than the ford, mitsubishi, and especially toyota i had before. the only thing that bothers me is chryslerl/ jeep has got to figure out how to make their product hold value. i sadly had to sell my jeep 1 year later because the value loss is horrible and shocking for a veh that comes wi the best options-toys. my husband is making me drive a higher end vehicle so it will be worth something when we switch vehicles out every 2-3 years. i cannot argue this, but my 15 year old jr and myself miss it.........secretly....read morehide

- Smooth ride. Great for extended trips.
- Not good on gas at all.
I have owned a Liberty since 02, and wanted something bigger with Jeep abilities. The Commander is all you'd want in a Jeep with a better ride and more room. The back seats are better for kids because the leg room is cramped. But overall this is my dream car and I love it. Excellent for longer trips, very comfortable....read morehide

- For a v8 good mpg compared to my v6 trooper
- I have no need for 3rd row seating
I just recently bought a 2008 jeep commander with 10000 miles on it. It has the v8 4.7 305hp. I've been really impressed so far. I had a izuzu trooper the past 8 years. I've been really happy with the gas milage so far considering its a suv and comparing it to my trooper which was a gas guzzler. I avg almost 19 mpg hwy and almost 17 mpg city. I like the overall feel inside and the drive is very smooth. It is hard to see out the back when the 3rd row seating is up, but since i will never use it I've just left it down and put a cargo mat down over it....read morehide

- comfortable, 4X4 works wonderfully, great choice of equipment, tinted side & rear mirrors
- very low fuel economy, fuel saver shifts in and out too much, very hard to get into back seat
There is a slow response on acceleration, do not like rev limiter, could have more horse power, GPS does not know the roads very well

- sporty, feels like the boss on the road
- poor mpg
my 07 sport ed,jeep commander runs 9.8mpg city driving /13mpg to 16 highway, based on the trip meter .i always monitor it thats why its far beyond what was posted in the market, horrible and so frustrating seeing the next gasoline stop again in my navigator for my next trip.

- The stares I get as I drive down the road. Sunroof, large tires, smooth....ohh soo smooth ride
- Whistle-like sound. However, problem will be fixed by dealer. Service bulletin #23-022-06
I bought the Jeep from Naperville Jeep (Naperville, IL). Had a relatively nice experience. The Jeep though is awesome so far. My first tank of gas I was able to get 17.8MPG driving from the burbs of Chicago to the lakefront. 2/3'rds of the driving was stop and go during the Air and Water Show. Not bad with the A/C on.
The $4,500 customer cash (Jeep/Chrysler) was very nice and helped eat up part of the negative equity on my trade in.
One touch power windows (driver/passenger) is also very nice. Jeep runs oh soo smooth down the road and its like you're riding on a cushion of air.
The Boston Acustics (sp?) stereo system Kicks hard. Not bad for stock. I also like the chrome looking front grill.........and also the boxy type body.
The Commander is the exact same vehicle as the Jeep Grand CHerokee (sp?)..but it just has a differnt body style.
If you're looking for power and tons of torque.........then you'll need to buy the V-8. it though is a bit costly as my Commander only ran about $29,000 (minus rebate)....read morehide
