- Pros
- CVT Transmission / Ride Qualtiy / Excellent Reliability
- Cons
- Interior Plastics
Purchased As New
I purchased my 2008 Jeep Compass new and have owned for 2 1/2 years. The vehicle has been excellent regarding maintenence and service compared to other vehicles previously owned. In 2008. the interior was basic, so maybe the plastics inside are common for the vehicle price. My only complaint is the interior hard plastic, and you just need to be careful. The vehicle is so smooth with the CVT, I exceed the
EPA fuel economy rating greatly. I would hightly recommend this vehicle.
I have the 2.4L engine and plenty of power to drive to higher altitude areas uphill....read morehide0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

- Cons
- It doesn't handle snow or ice even when it's in 4-wheel drive

I rented a Jeep Compass for a trip about 150 miles from where I live. On the way down the roads were dry and it handled ok the gears slipped when climbing hills and the cruise shut off. On my way home there was a snow storm. I was only able to go 30 to 35 miles per hour due to the fact there was NO traction at all. My back end was fish tailing if I went any faster. I would NEVER purchase this vehicle or rent one again. This car would be a great car for someone who lives where there is NO SNOW or ICE....read morehide

- Pros
- Comfortable Ride
- Cons
- CVT Transmission
Purchased As New
I purchased this model in October of this year. What they DO NOT tell you is the CVT transmission is crap! It fluxuates two miles either way when set on cruise control. If you purchase an automatic with the slap shifter, it WILL come out of gear if the the tires speed up, even if it is sliding down a hill. I had a clean driving record until purchasing this Jeep. I have had it for two months and have received a speeding ticket and have wrecked coming down a hill in 3 inches of snow. This Jeep WILL NOT handle snow, even in four wheel drive if you need to gear it down to get somewhere, don't bother... it won't stay in gear if it thinks it needs to change. I had it in first gear and it didn't even change to second, it just went back to drive. I have always wanted a Jeep, now I can't wait to get rid of it! I'm extremely disappointed with the transmission of this vehicle! Make sure you ask questions about it. It is likely your salesman will not tell you about it willingly, my didn't!...read morehide

I traded my mazdacx7 for a jeep compass. So far i love it. The ride isn't that rough at all. Ilike the stylr, the inside interior, the stereo system is great. Now if i was driving a luxery car, then things would be different. But for a retired senior citizen the compass is fine for me. Plus i live in western Michigan and the 4wd works fine for me. My wife and i feel safe driving this vehicle....read morehide

- Pros
- Heated leather seats, great sound system, good gas mileage
- Cons
- Pedals hard to reach if you're short
Purchased As New
I sold my 1979 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham to buy this Jeep in 2008. It's my first new car & I couldn't be happier. It's heated leather seats are great in winter & the fact that you can control the 4 wheel drive is fantastic---just flip the switch! & despite what the so called "pros" say about it's look---I think it's nicely styled in & out. The rear seating is VERY comfortable too---can't say that about other crossovers i've ridden in. The rear seats can be reclined to give you a bit more room. Good cargo space too....read morehide

- Pros
- Great gas mileage, perfect size for cargo, solid construction.
- Cons
- Excessive use of plastic interior.

The first NEW car I ever owned and traded my 13 year old mini-van in for a combined $8000 clunker/dealer credit. Very pleased with the MPGs and overall comfort. There is pleanty of room for cargo in the back and the rear passenger seats are roomy for full sixed humans. Folded down back seats make trips to the hardware store easy. I really like the reversable lid on the spare tire compartment in the trunk. One side is carpeted, the other side is smooth. Comes in handy when toting messy stuff. Handles easy, smooth quiet ride....read morehide

- Pros
- drives nice, looks sharp
- Cons
- fuel is bad loud when driving blind spots bad pick up and go!
Purchased As New
It is a nice cheap fix! This jeep looks sharp (mine is optic green) but is is nothing like my ford. There is little pick up and go, and the fuel seems to always be on "E". This would make a good second car of a family car. Not really for a young driver such as myself.

- Pros
- All the extras are great - but the ride is awesome.
- Cons
- Had to install blind spot mirror on side mirrors

I never knew I would like an SUV and now I will never go back to driving a car. My husband and I shopped around and researched all of the new small SUV's. The price, including all of the extras without going to the Limited model, is just what we wanted. We are very pleased with the gas mileage, warranty and everything so far....read morehide
