Overall, I am happy with my purchase (on a side note, you Americans are lucky. I paid $43k for my Laredo X and that was the best price I could find in Toronto). I also considered the Ford Explorer (couldn't get past the styling), Mercedes GLK (too small) and Audi Q5 (was too impatient to wait 4 months for it to come from the factory in Germany, and no dealers had any on the lot or were willing to sell their demo - but this is the one when I drive past it I think about the one that got away).
A couple things have come up though.
1) As many have noted, the car is more sluggish than I would have hoped from a stop. However, it can be a beast (I have the V6) when it is moving and you accelerate.
2) My change oil light has come on at 6000 km (3700 miles). The maintenance schedule suggests a first servicing at 12000 km I believe.
3) The stock tires, even with 4x4 are pretty bad in snow. Slipping on turns going over 10 mph. Winter tires for anyone in a reasonably harsh climate are a must. Never experienced slippage at that speed on any car I have driven without winters
4) My aftermarket floormats got caught on the accelerator, which caused me to floor it (likely on a side street with an easily accessible empty parking lot) uncontrollably for about 10 seconds before I was finally able to stop. This one's not so much the car's fault, but I had previously never experienced anything like that and always buy aftermarket floormats.
The four issues are all solved relatively easily, but I was hoping to not have any issues after having driven a nice japanese sport sedan for 3 years without any issues...read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

Maybe I am spoiled because my last car was an Infiniti and I never had a single problem with it for 140,000 miles, other than maintenance. My new Jeep started having problems almost immediately. Nothing major, just some minor nuisance issues. The passenger side back door does not open from the inside. So if I have passengers back there someone has to open the door from the outside so that passenger can get out.
When the low tire warning indicator goes on it stays on for weeks, even if I drive for hundreds of miles after adding pressure to the tire. Sometimes the "low" tire has more pressure than the other tires yet the warning light for that tire is still on!
The heater fan makes a high pitched whistling sound. It's really annoying so I have to keep the fan on the lowest setting otherwise I want to put a gun to my head and blow my brains out rather than have that whistling in my ear.
The navigation is quirky and hard to use. The voice interface is just plain stupid and useless. The blue tooth acts up too. I use an ear piece rather than dealing with the blue tooth.
Lastly, I have the roof racks that run the length of the car. But the car does not come with supports that run from one rail to the other! So if you have cargo you want to put on the roof and it is narrower than the space between the rails you are basically using your roof to support the cargo! For what I paid for this car you think it would come with a better roof rack...at least I did!
Honestly, I wanted to buy American this time around. But I think this is my last Jeep. When I pay almost $50,000 for a vehicle, I expect much much more than what I got in this Jeep....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

Purchased As Used
We love our new Jeep! Bought is slightly used with around 7500 miles for a great discount and so far it is fantastic. We traded in our 2004 Acura MDX for this Laredo loaded with leather, NAV, heated seats, uconnect, etc. The only thing we don't have is a moonroof, but we don't miss it either. Obviously it is an available option, but when you buy used there is less control over something like that. Gas mileage is a bit better than the Acura was, probably because the vehicle is newer. Let's face it, you don't buy a large SUV for the fuel economy, so I am happy with 23-ish mpg we get on the highway. Plenty of room, plenty of features, plenty of fun to drive. Highly recommend!...read morehide

- Pros
- Nice ride, luxerious interior, excellent 4wd
- Cons
- Serious hesitation from stop, especially when cold.

I bought my Jeep in November of 2010. Almost immediately began having problems with acceleration from a stop and especially when cold. When I spoke with the service manager at my local Jeep, he said he had heard of this problem before. After speaking to the dealer further, the service manager developed amnesia and I was, let's just say, "discouraged" from persuing it further and "encouraged" to buy another one with a bigger motor. I should qualify this by saying I have the V-6. I was unable to deal with this further due to a family emergency, and then came summer and the problem is not as pronounced. Let me assure you that once it gets cold again, I will be parked outside the Jeep dealship. That is, unless I get rid of it before then....read morehide

I've owned only Merc/BMW's for past 20 years all bought new. Needed an SUV and bought a Laredo 4x4 with leather etc. Great quality and performance for the money. Less than half the price of an equivalent ML or X5....

I purchased the 70th Anniverary model in July and after trading in a 2005 Grand Cherokee and what a difference. The room in the backseat area is unbelievable which corrected the main reason I didn't like my 2005. The ride and styling are great and the V6 Penatastar engine has more horsepower than the V8 that was in my 2005 model! The pickup is sufficient and no need to go the to Hemi. This is the most comfortable Jeep that I have ever driver and would highly recommend it. I am averaging 16 miles per gallon when my 2005 was getting 11 mpg no matter how I drove. The rise is smooth and if you are not worrying about off road, this is the Jeep for you with the Quadratrack 1 feature. I had the deluxe traction feature in my 2005 and never used it. Overall, well worth the money when comparing it to other SUV's and it does have a Mercedes feel since they were the ones that influenced this design....read morehide

I have been very pleased with my 2011 Grand Cherokee purchased from Jasper Jeep in June, 2011. The SUV has been dramatically changed and the upgrades make it a much more comfortable ride on the highway. I am also averaging 24 MPG hwy and 18 in the city.

I purchased my GC in May and have 5000 miles on it now. I am getting up to 26 mpg on the highway with the penstar V6. I traded in my 2010 Mercedes GLK 350 4matic and it was the best thing I ever did. Loved the Mercedes but not the price of maintenance. This Jeep drives and rides as good or better than the GLK but does not have the sporty handling. Although it is much more comfortable & roomy than the GLK. All I can say is I love everything about my GC, I have the saddle interior and it is beautiful and great quality! Great SUV!!!...read morehide
