- Looks good, rugged and powerful
- Hard ride, fuel economy, dealer service
Purchased As New
After 140,000 kms I still love my Jeep. I live in Africa and we have terrible potholed roads, yet this machine handles everything - family car, tows a huge trailer and in spite of its shape have still managed to take it up to over 100mph on the open road. Unfortunately the dealer service isn't the best, and they charge like mad for spares, so I probably won't buy abother one, but otherwise I would replace it with a new one every time....read morehide

- Good size for a small family, appearance, Jeep reputation
- can't even fit the owners manuel in the glove box, gas milage stinks
Well, I guess it all started about 2 months ago, here in Northeast Pennsylvania when my son was born. With that said, exit our 2000 VW Beetle and enter the 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade 4X4.
I got this vehicle last friday, as I knew that with a new son living in snow-ridden North East PA, the Beetle just would not cut it any more. Overall, I am satisfied with this vehicle. It is perfect for my little beloved family of three. You can take a baby in and out of the car seat with ease due to the car seat anchors in the back seat. There is plenty of room in the back for luggage, and a stroller. There are 60/40 split fold rear seats whhich work great because you can anchor the child seat either behind the driver or passanger seat, so it you fold one of them, there is no interference.
I decided to go with Jeep due to it's reputation for 4WD and hearing what all my Jeep owner friends had to say about them. Living where we do, if you have a child....having 4WD is a necessity to get around in the winter.
The only negatives that I can say is that the glove box is so tiny, that it can't even hold the owners manuel. Also, I think that the gas milage is sub par. But this is my first SUV so I don't have much to compare it to. The Beetle cost about $25 TO FILL AND WENT FOR ABOUT 400 MI. I also have a 2003 Neon SXT which is good on gas.
In summation, I would say that if you have a small family or are a couple who are about to have your first, give the Liberty a try, you may find that it's exactly what you need....read morehide

- Rear wheel drive, This thing delivers like a truck, handling.
- No ashtray.
This jeep really performs! It is the only SUV in the compact segment that is rear-wheel drive, even better than that it has a larger drivetrain than Ford or GM's large segment. This SUV rides, drives and is powered well with the 3.7. Jeeps seem to be much more quality built than other manufactures and I think that has to do with the fact that it is designed to be an offroad truck/vehicle first and then made into the road eater they are. Please do not buy another vehicle without test driving a comparable Jeep. You can now even go for the commander. Offroad this thing does wonderful! trust me I am from the swamp and sandy orange groves in Florida....read morehide

- Love the styling on the new Renegade hood, great 4 wheel capability, clean and basic Jeep interior
- Always can have more horsepower, fuel economy just OK
Great restyle on the Renegade. The Renegade looks like a totally different vehicle than the other Liberty models. The wheels look great and the new hood style gives this vehicle a tougher look. Great 4x4 suv with all the comforts I wished my Wrangler had. Four doors, power mirrors, power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, etc... I can't wait for my first New England snow storm now! Previously owned a 99 Wrangler Sport and then a 2003 Wrangler sport....read morehide

- Great Looking, Fun to drive
- Early Fuel Economy
This vehicle is just a pleasure to drive. Very comfortable, yet still has a "Jeep" feel. Much smoother and quieter than my Cherokee (and I love my Cherokee). The heated leather is comfy, CD Changer sounds great. I was very happy to be able to get a loaded Renegade without the lightbar and with a sunroof. It has the cush of the Limited with the more rugged look of the Renegade. The flat hood on the '05 Renegade is also very cool, very "Jeep"....read morehide

- Styling, Power, Manual 6-Speed is sick, Great value on a loaded model.
- Some aspects of the interior lack some quality and at 3 months need to take it in for warranty work.
I love my liberty renegade. With the exception of a rattle in my dash early, not much bad I can say about the car as long as small things like that do not pop up in the future.

- Love the GPS, rides great, comfortable amenities and overall well made
- Gas mileage could be better
I should have bought a Jeep long ago, but the reputation suffered in the past. Not so with the Liberty. This is an awesome vehicle and deserves high marks for performance, comfort and overall value!
