- Fun to drive, comfortable seatws
- CVT tranny, poor MPG, no power, water leaks
Purchased As New
Jeep Patriot is prone to water leaks, wish I new this before I bought it. My 08 Patriot is at the dealers now and has been there for two weeks. Water leak at rear dome light. This is the fifth time at the dealers. Dealer has no idea where it leaks. They even took it to a body shop. Searched the web and found this is a major issue with this vehicle....read morehide

- Great fuel economy in town or on the highway. Very comfortable; lots of head room and storage space.
- It would be nice if their were air conditioning vents in the back seat. Other than that, no downside
This is the best car I've ever owned. I purchase my Patriot approximately 5 months ago, and have never been happier with a car. I consistently get great mileage around town and on the freeways. Their is pleny of room in the interior to tote 5 people and kid's gear to the park or the beach. The Patriot is a great looking vehicle, which is very easy to maneuver and has an outstanding turning radious. I wouldn't part with this car, it is a 4 cyl. and has all the pep I need. I would not hesitate to purchase another in the future. Hey, another great thought -- It's made in AMERICA!...read morehide

- gas milage and appearance
- electrical issues
We own 2 2008 Patriots. One is has all the power windows, doors, and other things. The other is really stripped down, hand cranking windows and everything. The stripped down one has had all sorts of electrical issues and is actually in getting fixed right now. The windshield wipers don't work. The head lights are on when key is in the ignition. The signal lights don't work at all and an alarm sounds for no reason whenever the driver door is opened. As for the patriot with power everything, about a month after we bought this one the sensor that indicates whether you are skidding on ice fried. Apparently the factory had wrapped the electrical in cotton not weather proof material (according to the jeep service guy). I am now at a loss for what to do and don't think I will buy another Jeep again. I know I won't buy two of the same car within 6 months of each other again....read morehide

- Comfortable seats, good fuel economy, fun to drive,
Test drove HYUNDAI SANTA FE, CHEVY EQUINOX, FORD ESCAPE, TOYOTA 4RUNNER AND FJ, MERCURY MARINER, MAZDA TRIBUTE. Jeep Patriot was easy to drive and the seats are comfortable. Of all I test drove the Jeep Patriot was the best. Thought hard about the MERCURY MARINER and MAZDA TRIBUTE but the Patriot was the most fun and the better driving vehicle of those two. TOYOTA 4RUNNER drove more like a truck with a hard ride. Jeep Patriot is more car like but still capable. It drives like it is bigger than what it is. You don’t feel like you are in a small SUV. CVT transmission feels different than a standard automatic. With the dependability and less maintenance of the CVT I will take it. When I bought it home and my wife drove it, she wanted me to buy her one, that’s how good it is....read morehide

- Wonderful fuel economy, great interior!
- None that I can see!
I bought this car a week ago and I love it so much! I just traded in my Dodge Neon that had a ton of miles in it since I needed a better car. I come from a Jeep family and had a Jeep years ago. I so missed having one. Retail value $17,745, put a good chunk of money on it and my trade in and came away with an extremely low payment. It rides so smooth and I love sitting up high again. For the money, it was a phenomenal deal! I got the Brilliant Black and she sparkles!!! Everybody that has seen it has commented on what a nice car it is. I love owning a Jeep again!!! I only go maybe 9,000 miles a year. This thing will last me a long time! Oh and make sure you get the $2.99 gas guarantee! Well worth it!
Kudos to Brown Daub Jeep in Nazareth PA and to Andrew my sales guy!!! They were first class all the way!...read morehide

- Roomy. CVT very good, esp. at low-speed. Good safety features.
- Dark base vinyl seats hot when starting out.
But seats supportive. Excellent vision all around. Air conditioning very cold in Oklahoma, so good enough for anywhere! Easy drop-down rear seats. Middle rear seat only large enough for a child.
This SUV with the 2.4L engine and CVT (A/T). Plenty of power, even at highway speeds. CVT does NOT take "getting used to..." You'll be comfortable with it right away. Have shifted manually between the 6 gear ratios, alot of fun, but unnecessary. Initial tank's city-only MPG 17.5, but climbing fast.
Very solid construction. Smooth ride, not jittery. Handles very well and controlled! (I didn't expect it to be this good). 16" Goodyear Eagles LS standard on base vehicle - seem like fine tires. Overall quality is high.
2008 Patriot comes with free Lifetime Powertrain Warranty. Yes, warranty also covers the drive axle and related parts (CV joints, etc.). Price nailed this for me - there is nothing else even close at this level of quality. Its roominess will surprise you......read morehide

- Peppy little car, smaller than standard SUV, but plenty of head room
- AC has too little cooling potential for a very hot climate
Consistently get 27 mpg, Roomy interior. Back seat folds down flat for cargo space. Modern boxy design. Very comfortable seating for long drives. The 2.0 engine provides plenty of power going uphill on the freeway. I found this on the loss-leader category at $11,800. If you can buy it for cash, with no extras, no financing and no tradein, you can get a good deal. Don't let them talk you into the expensive "added insurance plan" for an additional greater than $3000. Don't let them talk you into to nitrogen filled tires, they are few places where you can fill these tires....read morehide
