This is my first ever Jeep. When I saw that the 3.6L was being used in the 2012 Jeep i wanted to try it out. Love driving it, I bought it in Nov 2011. I Drive back and forth from Boston MA. to Pittsburgh PA. I have 16000 miles on the jeep and it is only May 2012. No issues with the jeep. Once on the highway I never shift out of 6th Gear. I had it offroading also and I was impressed with the ability to crawl and power it had to drive though mud and water.
Very happy with this vehicle....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

I've been waiting for 3 years for Jeep to inprove the Wrangler's engine. WELL worth the wait!! I love this 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Sport. It's fun to drive with plenty of power and good gas milage. I average 21 MPG. It's easy to pop the top and enjoy a nice drive. I have owned a couple Jeeps and this one is worlds better all around!!!...read morehide

I used to have a 2009 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. While having the oil changed on the '09 I test drove the '12. I left the dealership with the '12. This Jeep is just so much nicer. It has more power and drivability is better. Still its a Jeep and not everyone would like its ruggedness.

- MPG Could Improve More

I sold my Subaru WRX that had lots of extra performance parts upgrades for a new Wrangler. I have enjoyed the Wrangler, it handles well and has a good amount of power for a SUV.
When compared to to a friend's jeep (2 door 2007) , the 2012 interior is much nicer, it handles much better, and has less noise (with a hard top, haven't been in a 2012 soft top).
Though MPG isn't great, I regularly get over 19 MPG city driving (I check with gallons used to refile tank divided by miles traveled). With most other SUVs achieving higher MPG, Jeep must continue to improve on this.
Using a motor/trans that was tried & tested on the Grand Cherokee was one of the best moves Jeep has made for the Wrangler.
If you looking for a fun SUV, this should be at the top of your list....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Interior improvements make the 2012 a contender for daily driving.
- Cons

The Jeep Unlimited Sahara "Arctic Edition" is what I decided to purchase. After several seasons of dealing with cool temps, I wanted to be spoiled. The Arctic styling obviously paid off for Jeep, considering mine was one of the last excepted orders due to quote limits.
This is a "Luxury" vehicle for the outdoorsman. Already I'm thinking of interior modifications that will support hunting and camping trips / hobbies. There isn't much you could ask for that Jeep didn't deliver in 2012. The Rubicon tires and 17' wheels, acounting for 31 inches of aggression with an extra 83 horses in modle year 2012 makes us all feel good about the increase in price.
10% better MPG and torque are not areas that are lost on us either....read morehide2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

- Would like better gas mileage

First off I bought the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and not the Unlimited but for some reason Yahoo Autos does not list the 2012 Jeep Wrangler as an option so I am putting my review here.
I previously owned a 2009 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara and let me say the 2012 is so much better. The added horse power is very noticeable and much appreciated although I wouldn't mind a little more. My 2009 was a dog, but the 2012 is noticeably faster. That's the biggest reason why I got ride of the 2009 one. It struggled on the highway whereas my 2012 only seems to struggle above 80, but then u don't want to be going too fast before a turn.
I drive this to work and most of that is on the highway in moderate traffic. I am averaging 18 mpg whereas my mom's 2011 Grand Cherokee Laredo is averaging 20-21 mpg.
The 2012 has radio, voice, phone controls on the steering wheel. These are the same controls on my mom's 2011 Grand Cherokee and I think they're great.
Honestly, after owning a 2009 (~202 hp) and now owning a 2012 (~285 hp) I would never recommend a pre-2012 one and I just don't see how the pre-2012 can hold it resale value.
I view this Jeep as my fun car, but now feel much more satisfied driving it everyday to work....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Cons
- controls and handling not up to my BMW M3

Seriously, there are no other vehicles of its type to compare with since Hummer went belly up. The fully loaded Rubicon Unlimited I had ordered will come in after a three month wait from the factory. I had taken the dealer's auto for a long ride and my comments should be taken in that context.
The Jeep for 2012 has had major upgrades to its engine and drivetrain. The engine is actually the same, with some tweeks to, the one used for the Maseratti. Whatever that means.
The drive was comfortable enough, but then the handling is not what one expects in a good sports car. That is because the Jeep Rubicon is not a good sports car. It is an off road vehicle.
My basic impression is that this auto is logically and sensibly designed and built. It is a rugged vehicle for those who would like to keep their cars for more than three years. the interior is logically laid out and has most of the features one may want.
The seating is high and the visibility around the cockpit is good. It's a fun truck to drive on common roads, you do feel connected to the road.
Those who call it a piece of junk are not serious people. The Jeep is one of the most popular and well built vehicles on the road, is getting rave reviews, the company is profitable, and if you want one built, you can expect to wait two to three months. The demand is that high.
