This was a good year for the Jeep Wrangler.. I think it was in it's 3rd year production since new year changes from the YJ (square headlights). It was reliable vehicle for me until I allowed a local garage to meddle with the clutch. Over the course of 9 years I had to replace the sway bars twice and starter once. The heater blower fan switch, directionals and dash control plug was replaced under warranty. Failure was due to allowing water inside the cabin (it's inevitable with a jeep). Also the brake rotors were replaced at 30,000 miles. Other than that it was a solid machine and a lot of fun to drive. One piece of advice. Make sure you have a qualified, experienced, and certified mechanic when changing out the clutch. Go to the dealer if you have to and pay a little extra to avoid a possible nightmare. Use OEM parts and just replace the flywheel. I know its expensive but it will avoid a worst case scenerio of dropping the transmission a second or third time time if the clutch isn't working properly. Just make sure you have someone who can do a jeep clutch without a hitch.
I think the fuel pump was ready to fail at 82,000 miles just before I sold this vehicle....read morehide
