Purchased As New
DO NOT buy a Wrangler with the 3.8 engine. We are older owners, and drive as such. This Jeep used 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles, and Chrysler says that is acceptable ? They did a couple tests that showed nothing. No leaking on the garage floor, it doesn't smoke, no oil smell. The dealer changes the oil, and we noticed they use 5w30 instead of the 5/20 it calls for. They top off between changes, and to save me the trip, they give me 3 quarts to add between the 5,000 mile change interval. The 5w30 seems to have raised comsumption to 1 qt. every 1500 miles. We've had radio issues, AC issues, all electrical. It occasionally develops a wobble 40 to 60 mph. They can't find it. They engine idled rough, they got permission from jeep to modify factory settings. It's better, but mpg went from 18 to 16. We belong to 2 Jeep groups, and these 3.8 equipped Jeeps seem to all be the same. We're waiting to see how the owners we know who bought the new 3.3 liter Jeeps rate them and this one is getting traded. If they have issues, we're not buying any more Jeeps.
