Purchased As New
I have been a Jeep owner for 15 + years. I originally owned a 1995 Jeep Wrangler Rio Grande 4 Cylinder, and a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited. The 2012 Rubicon is a great mix of the two. I lifted the 1995 Wrangler and add bigger 31 inch tires just to make it look right. The 2012 Rubicon comes at or above the height I raised my 1995 to and it comes with 32 inch tires. All the basic mods that Jeep lovers crave are where this Wrangler Rubicon starts out. It sits tall off the ground and you climb up into it. This is just how Jeeps are. The interior is superb. The freedom top is fun and easy to use. You need to be willing to manually remove and store it. With the top on it is much quieter than the 1995 Wrangler was. I can have a phone conversation without yelling.
I have thrown it into four wheel high and hit the mud already, This thing is great. The auto disconnect swap bars make life easy. I am looking forward to using the factory lockers but the four wheel drive is so good I have not needed to use it yet.
This vehicle lacks storage. If you keep the rear seats in the ability to transport more than two laptop bags is unrealistic, and no way to secure equipment when unattended. With the 70 pound seats removed (no small task) the cargo area is greatly increased. Folding up the rear sets is quick and easy.
There are many aftermarket parts to choose from and most are easy to add. The Factory Jeep Rubicon is a starting point for you the owner to express your off-road passion, not the vehicle for everyone but definitely the right one for off-roaders.
I would definitely recommend this to those who want a fun car that can go anywhere even stock.
