The best little truck ever

by Barbie from Brooklyn,N.Y. (6/26/08)
Pros:comfort,rides smooth,love the style
Cons:fuel can be better

This is the best little truck ever.My husband and I couldnt be happier with the jeep liberty. We always talked about getting one for years, but this was one of those times when we really needed a new car/truck and even though times are tough with gas prices sky high and the economy and all but you only live once and we really neede a car so why not buy what you love. This was our first big purchase and it was worth it.for anyone out there thinking of the 2008 jeep liberty, all I'm gonna say is..."BUY IT".It will be the best purchase you will ever make.

Sporty, room and zoom

by Sharon from Hull, Texas (6/05/08)
Pros:Great as far as interior room. Cargo area spacious and fold down seats allows for good hauling room
Cons:Gas economy could be much better! Only gets 20-23 miles per gallon.

I truly have enjoyed driving and owning this car. I purchased it because at the time my mother was alive and I needed extra space to haul her medical equipment. She has passed on now, but I still have really enjoyed the smooth ride, cargo room, and in general just a good cun car to drive. Has good pick up as well as being able to manuver in and out of traffic easily. As a single woman, it has is a great deal. It gives me as much freedom to work with as any mid sized truck, but still the comfort of a car. I'd buy another one in a heart beat, especially if the gas mileage could be better. That is my only complaint! With gas prices at $4 a gallon, we need them to make us a good car with good gas mileage. Buy one of these, you won't be sorry.

Love my Liberty

by Gail from Jacksonville, Florida (6/03/08)
Pros:The SkySlider roof is SO COOL...
Cons:none so far

I've had my Sport 4x2 for about a week. I traded in a PT Cruiser convertible so of course I had to get one with the "Sky Slider" roof. That is one COOL option! The gas milage is decent, but you don't get this kind of vehicle if you're expecting 30mpg. Rides nice and smooth and it feels big and solid. I was surprised how different it looks compared to the 07 Liberty. It's bigger and just looks beefier. It's also very roomy inside and the seats are very comfortable. It's nice to go to Sams Club and be able to load up! Also, with all the windows there is excellent visibility all around. My first project is to get the windows tinted; it gets pretty hot in there.

Overall good vehicle -- some flaws

by Jon & Robin from Mission Viejo, California (6/01/08)
Pros:Many features for the money, great seats, handles well, easy driving.
Cons:Front suspension is too soft, does not match rear firmness, blind spots, poor mileage in town.

We got this primarily as a flat towed vehicle for our RV motorhome (one of th few 4x4's that can be flat towed with no special procedures). We loaded this car up as we expect to keep it for 10 years. For the money, this vehicle has many advanced safety features, and other features that make it feel like a much more expensive vehicle. We got the My Gig Infotainment center, and love it -- great sound and many options for loading I-Pod songs, etc.

The redesigned Liberty puts a full spare underneath which is a great improvement over the first generation. The Nitro has an optional 4.0 versus the 3.7 of the Liberty.

Be sure to test drive on the highway/freeway. When driving the freeway, the vehicle has a deep hum/rumble -- don't think it's the tires, but rather the design of the suspension/axles. Could be irritating on a long drive.

Love this jeep!!

by L from PA (5/15/08)
Pros:Comfortable, looks great, rides nice
Cons:Accelerates slow, bad gas mileage (what did I expect?!)

Have had this 08 Liberty 6 weeks. Traded a 03 Liberty for it. So far so good. Glad to see that others think it's slow to accelerate so I don't think I'm crazy! Rides nice, lots of interior room, glad that I opted for the sunroof. Did not have one bit of trouble with the 03, so if it's as trouble-free as my 03, I'll be one happy woman!!

If you love Jeep, This is the one to get.

by Antonia from Chicago,Il (5/10/08)
Pros:Great in the snow, rain,it handels beautifully, great breaking power too.
Cons:While your driving a little slugish to excelarate to higher speed,4 months ,I got rail rust

Over all I won't drive anything else, this is my second Jeep, I had a 1998 Cherakee and got to198,00 miles on it,with only minimal work done to it (breaks, tires, belts, and radiator at 180,00 miles) I keep it for 10 years and it still drove great.I decide to buy the 2008 Liberty after seeing it advertise,It was a hard to let go of my Cherakee
but now after driving my 2008 I'm glad I did.I love it.

Sporty luxury..whatever mood your in!!

by Kim from Ocean Springs, MS (5/07/08)
Pros:Very comfortable, looks great, and gets good gas mileage!
Cons:Needs more exterior accessories for the sporty personality!

I just bought my Jeep Liberty last week. I have previously owned an Xterra, and then Fj Cruiser in which I traded in for my Liberty. I am so much more comfortable. The Liberty is a less tanky vehicle. I may not have as much of a power feeling, but I feel safe and still have the pick up I need to get going really fast. I LOVE my moonroof!! That was the final selling point on this suv. The soundsystem is a God send for us stressed out folks. The side curtain airbags and having a 4 door again is pleasently a relief. Never get suicide doors with children. The white Liberty is very luxurious looking yet still has that sporty look when your in the mood for it! I love it.

Great buy for the money, Best SUV in its class

by Buster from Green Bay, WI (5/05/08)
Pros:Great ride for a short wheel base suv, sporty enough, great sound system, well designed
Cons:Floor space for drive and passenger is limited due to drive train. Fuel Econ and Shift Issues

I purchased this vehicle about three months ago, I have about 1600 miles on it. After researching suvs for about 6 months. I finally took the plunge and got it. I am very pleased with the ride and the interior. The exterior has staunch look, the fog lamps are nice and bright. The rear hatch opens with the push of the button. The interior offers comfortable seating, the creature comforts are placed right. The carpeting is cheap. The transmission does not shift properly into overdrive. I know this is a prob for them and will take it in for that shortly. I have two 1998 Dakotas and the V8 I have in one of them will kick the pants off this 210 horse V6. I am not all that impressed with the motor, however, it does the job. Could/should get better milage. Over all I would definately recommend this to all.

Awesome SUV!

by Sue from Grand Haven, Michigan (5/02/08)
Pros:Great For Snow!!!
Cons:Poor fuel economy vehicle, but it is an SUV.

I just recently traded in my 2003 Liberty for a more fuel efficient car (Toyota Corolla). Never had any problems with the car and living in Michigan on the lakeshore with a total of 112" of snow this past winter, my Liberty pulled through some deep snow as if it was just a dusting on the road. Never slipped, never slided, awesome vehicle in the snow. I know this winter I am going to miss my Liberty and having the 4x4. Would consider purchasing this vehicle again, but with high gas prices, I wish Jeep could make the Liberty more gas friendly. I noticed a lot of 4x4 trucks (Ford, Chevy) stuck in the snow, but my Jeep pulled through it like a hot knife in butter.
