- $35,100 - $35,100

- Luxurious interior, high quality feel, many bells & whistles, 5 year bumper to bumper warranty
- 290/3 hp max. With a higher hp and pickup (or response) on acceleration could be better.

Yahoo again gets it wrong. There are 2 trims, premium and technology. If you get the tech package you also get the premium.
Now just before I test drove this car, I test drove 2 audi Q5s - tdi and 3.0. While 3.0 has somewhat better response than tdi, both were disappointing when it came to hp and pickup. Further, it was a rainy day. When I wanted to back up, the backup camera had water drops fogging the visibility ! At a window sticker of 50K+, such defects, lack of optional features like ventilated seats and safety features like blind spot monitoring, lane change alert, etc., are unacceptable. Neither Q5 had features that several new model vehicles from other manufacturers have such (as the safety pack blind spot monitoring, lane change alert, more strategic placement of air bags, etc.) nor ventilated seats or other comforts of a luxury vehicle.
When I test drove the Cadenza, I was simply floored by how much better it drove compared to the Q5! It had all the bells and whistles that Q5 or several other luxury vehicles don't or charge enormously more to have. The interior was very pleasing and everything had a touch of high quality. Very spacious front and back seats and leg space. So many new features can't even list all. For instance, at night when you come near the driver's side of the car, an automatic light near the side mirror will come on to give you more visibility.
I had narrowed down my final choice to this Cadenza (tech+premium packages) and the Chrysler 300C with 5.7, V8 with 363 hp, with all the comforts (don't know what to call that as they have so many confusing names, you have to actually check out the vehicle you want to check what all features it has). While dealwise both dealers were making very good deals, I was also looking to get the most features at the least price. The Kia sales guy made me an offer (or rather I made an offer) that I could not walk away from. Though the Chrysler had some more features like 2 ventilated seats, remote starter) it did not have the lane change alert that the Cadenza has. Otherwise, both have many safety features including blind spot monitors, backup cameras with park sensors, adaptive cruise contol, etc. Cadenza is 2014 and Chrysler is 2013 (2014 not yet out).
Some times mentioning the name Kia sounds a bit uncomfortable, with the past perception on media (including Jay Leno) that it is a low quality vehicle, I said to myself, objectively how is the vehicle? It is great and people will change their perceptions if they just drive any of the Kia vehicles. (I also test drove the 2014 Sorrento which drives well too and has several features like 3 drives (comfort, normal and sport) with simple controls. But the cadenza has a more luxurious feel and had lane change alert which sorrento did not), so I went with the Cadenza.
Though sometimes the exterior is not easy to tell it apart from the Optima (which of course has better styling than BMW, Lincoln or Mercedes). I can't wait for my relatives and friends to drive in the car. I am confident, they will be surprised at this vehicle's high quality. Plus all Kias and Hyundais have 5 year bumper to bumper warranty which is longer the auto industry standard of 3 year warranties (and the last time I checked VW had the worst only 2 years!).
