2006 Kia Optima

- Nice looking, comfortable
- Breaks down, KIA service terrible
We have had the throttle regulator break four times, and KIA just can't get it right. It gets to the point where we have to live with other problems (stalling, engine racing up hills) to try to have them fix this. We even get comments that 'KIAs' are hard to work on' from them, Don't be fooled by the warranty or initial cost. If you have problems this will take the shine off. They even make you fight to get a loaner, when the warranty clearly states the conditions, which we meet, for getting one....read morehide

- Broke down -
As I drove my brand New Kia Optima of the lot i slowing braked to get off the lot and over the gutter when my exhaust pipe clanks on the gutter and falls off. I would definately not buy a kia optima......read morehide

- Nice smooth ride, great value
- A few 'extras' left out of the 2006 - but put into the 2006.5
Was torn between the VW Passatt, VW Jetta, and this Kia. Price was the deciding factor as KIA currently has more incentives which I was able to use toward the downpayment.
This is now my 2nd Kia - I purchased a 1995 Kia Sephia new and it didn't meet it's demise until last year. I can be hard on cars -riding the clutch a bit, taking RR tracks and spped bumps a few mph faster than I should etc - so after getting my 1995 to last 10 years with only $500 in maintence (ZERO Warranty work needed) I was more than happy to concider them again.
My new 2006 Optima (LX V6) has a VERY smooth ride - I am quite impressed. I opted for the V6 but also drove a 4C and liked it as well.
There is a 2006 and a 2006.5 - the 2006.5 has a few options that I wanted on the 06 (full side curtain air bags, and traction control) but there weren't as many $$ incentives on the 06.5 as there were on the 06. I also like the body style of the 06 better than the 06.5.
GREAT CAR overall! - Stickered at 21,666 after options I paid 17,898 before Tax, and got $3000 in incentives and $500 in loyalty bonus which brought the price down to 14,400 - making it a sure financial winner over the Jetta and Passat....read morehide
