I already have a 2011 Toyota Prius, which I am very happy with, but I wanted a car that does not need to have all those batteries replaced ten years down the road. I looked at many vehicles and drove most of them. I was pleasantly surprised at the combination of fuel efficiency, interior roominess and comfort and style of this vehicle. It is really a nice car. I have had it now for about 1 1/2 months and have about 4,000 miles on it. It does well around town and on long trips. I am very pleased.
Superb gas mileage, Awesome interior: Heated Leather Seats!, Very Spacious Inside, Fold Down Rear Seats, Back Up Camera, Navigation, Stereo, Nice Sunroof, Beautiful Paint Job, Sweet LIghts and Fog Lights Included., 17" Alloy Wheels with Low Profile Tires. Very Quiet Inside. Engine is Peppy. Gauges are Very Easy To Read. Great Interior Lighting! Got to see it and drive it to do it justice. For the price, it cannot be beat! I know, I looked at many, many vehicles before purchasing this one....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Cons
- Rear Visibility, other trivial things missing

This is a great little car for the price. Seats 4 adults fine, and has almost every gadget you'd find in luxury cars for a budget price! It's stylish and makes people turn heads.
The UVO package is a must have as the rear visibility in the car is servery lacking. The backup camera see's great in the dark and well worth the extra $500 on the EX trim. But here in Canada, finding the UVO trim is like pulling teeth... it took me 2 weeks and I was forced to get a color I didn't really want. Kia, make more UVO EX trims!
One of my beefs with the UVO is why put in a 1gb hard drive? My Xbox has a bigger hard drive, you'll maybe fit 200 songs on it if they're small...
Some trivial things: There should have been a overhead bin for glasses. The gauges on the driving cluster are lacking. Also, I live in Canada, it would be nice if the engine temperature gauge comes on when the engine is also COLD, and not just HOT. The door bins are quite small, I had to squish my Kleenex Auto box into it, and my map book is sticking out. Although the cup holders in the doors was a neat idea.
I've had this car for a couple days, under 200km and I'm still getting 9.8 l/100k, so be warned the break in period may be a while... my dad's 2009 Subaru Forester gets better mileage then my car so far and I'm already at half a tank.
Another thing that bothers me is all the car sites telling you this car has no power for the highway... this is not the case! This car is peppy, much better then the Fiesta, and (twin) Accent.
These are all trivial things that I hope Kia can fix in the future on this car. Overall, this didn't deceive me in buying it. I'm quite happy with my choice and would buy it again as my first car in a heartbeat....read morehide1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

The 5 Door KIA RIO SX is the best car in its class and the driving experience is pure fun. There are competitors in this class that are better in one or two areas, but none have the overall combination of a terrific engine with an excellent 6 speed automatic transmission, lots of interior room, fantastic looks, an abundance of safety features, high tech gadgets, nimble handling, and the best warranty in the industry.
The RIO is extremely comfortable on long trips, which is unusual for a small car. Can you believe the outside mirrors are heated electronically and fold into the car with the touch of a button? And it has a nifty rear view camera!
It has brisk acceleration with outstanding Fuel Economy 38-39 highway only, 23-25 City only, and about 31-33 Combined.
Outside mirrors are heated and fold in with the push of a button. It has beautiful LED brake and running lights. Unusual for this class, it has Four Wheel Disc Brakes, traction and electronic stability control, plus numerous air bags. It has nimble handling with the SX Package.
The Rear View Camera is far more useful than I thought. Cabin room: 88 cubic feet. There's 49.8 cubic feet of storage space with rear seats folded down.
Highway Driving, operates @ only 2500 rpms while going 70 mph. Can easily pass other vehicles on the Interstate as it is right at home on the highway....read morehide3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Fuel economy, stylish design, loaded with features
- Cons
- Rough over bumps, rear visibility
Purchased As New
I've had the car now for a week and been driving in all types of conditions. Long to short, Bumper to bumper traffic. I traded in my Nissan Versa for this because of the styling is more modern and its loaded with features for the same amount I was paying for the Versa. Love the look of it. Drives well even when merging onto a highway. Kia has stepped their game up. I knew after the test drive I wanted this car. Only negatives are the rear visibility but that is because of the angled back window and somewhat rough over bumps but thats what you get with small light cars. I would recommend this car to whoever wants a good value car with many standard features....read morehide

- Pros
- Stylish, Quiet ride, fuel efficient, nice interior
- Cons
- Hard seats, rear blind spot, loud motor, small wheels

Very good value though I think I should have waited for the Sonic. Still this car is a very good value for the money. It rides nice and with a stick is relatively sporty. To much body roll keeps it off the fun to drive list along with the hard seats but other than that it is a very good value for the base price of 13,400....read morehide

- Manual Transmission only comes in LX trim

It says it all when I traded a BMW 3 series for this car. I bought the LX because I love 'rowing' through gears. Even at the lowest trim level, the car doesn't suffer from the econo-box mentality that other companies go with. Instead, it has feature after feature that make driving this car a dream. Rear visibility can be iffy, but short of that, driving this car is wonderful. The seats are firm, but only in the right ways. I love the style and have had numerous people ask what type of car it was because they expect style that this from a much higher price point car....read morehide

- Pros
- Ride, features for size
- Cons
- rear visibility
Purchased As New
The quality of this car over my '07 Hyundai Accent is rediculous. Much peppier, and a quiet, controlled ride. The dashboard is above average in fit and functionality. Interior plastics are better quality. Love the hill assist for rollback on the hilly terrrain where i live. My one beef with this car is rear visibility - the rear window is small, the headrests are large and both the rear and back seat side windows are tinted - all of which restrict visibility. When looking over your right shoulder the rear roof pillar leaves a LARGE blind spot. Maybe i'll get used to it but right now it's a sore spot. Outside of that i am very happy with this car....read morehide
