2012 Kia Sorento
There are 3 user reviews for the LX AWD trim shown below
- Price, initial quality, cabin noise, third row seat, utility, 25mpg hwy
- Stiff ride, seats bit narrow, paint runs, 4 cyl is bit taxed
Purchased As New
We bought this car new 5 months ago and it now has 4500 miles.
The ride is acceptable but moderate bumps and potholes will jolt you. Heavy loads do smooth the right quite a bit. Handling is predictable and firm. The car seats 7 and we often have 6 in the car. The third row works well, even on long distances as long as the 3rd row occupants are no taller than 5' 6-7". The seating is comfortable but the front seats are very firm and I wish they were about 1" or so wider. The drivers seat height is manual adjustable and drivers taller than 6' (I'm 6' 2") might find the position a tiny bit high, which I do but it's acceptable.
We have the 4 cyl, AWD model. We recently had a family trip over 500 miles each way, with the car fully loaded w/ luggage carrier on top. Fully loaded and doing around 75MPH hwy the MPG was 22.9 MPG which is excellent in my opinion. Lightly loaded and with a modest acceleration we get about 25HWY and 19/20CTY. Honestly the 4 cyl is a good engine but it strains under acceleration. If you need strong acceleration for heavy city or heavy traffic hwy merginig then you got to go with the 6 cyl.
Another note on mpg is if you're not in a hurry and fully loaded, then I'm pretty sure that 60MPH will get you 25/26MPG because I noticed that when doing the slower speeds the MPG jumped up.
When I bring the car back to the dealer this month I will address the paint runs. I didn't notice them when I picked up the car because the car did not detail / clean the outside. My guess is this was intentional. After I cleaned the car and caught it just right in the sunlight I noticed the minor runs on the driver side top hood and front right corner bumper. They're subtle but noticable. Shame on the dealer and those in the Albany NY area it is not the HUGE guy but the other on Wolfe Road.
Overall we are happy with this car and recommend it to anyone who can accept some minor compromises, not including the paint runs.
