I recently bought my Kia and Love it. I have got nice gas mileage. 31.8 yesterday. I traded it for my PT Cruiser which got 25-27mpg. I have it on eco mode and it works out fine. It picks up great. Looks great. It is very roomy inside but the back seats don't fold down flat but not that big a deal. Also the seats turn up on each side so if you are a bit larger it might be a little less comfy. But overall a great SUV. My first but definitely not the last. And I don't have a problem with road noise at all like others have said. About the blind spots that people say they have just turn and look. It has not been an issue with me....read morehide

- Cons
- Stiff ride blindspots speaker position on doors

Very happy with purchase. Better pick up than expected when judging vehicle from other reviews. Bad position for tweeters on doors, they get wet with window cracked during rain. I stop in kia the other day to see if they had rain visors for the doors yet and I got told that they don't. So far I love the vehicle, but it is to early yet and the real truth will come out in about 70,000 more miles....read morehide

This is our first suv/crossover and we absolutely love it. I would have never dreamed of buying a KIA years ago. I thought they were ugly and not very well made. Ever since the newly designed Sportages came out I had to have one. We have only had it a few days so time will tell with reliability. Hyundai and Kia have the best warranties and that it also another reason we decided to buy one. We have been reading reviews several months before we purchased and people complained about road noise. I personally don't think its that bad. It a lot better than other new cars we have owed. The last major complaint was the blind spot in the rear passanger side. My response to this - there is a spot, however, it is not something you can't see when you look thru the passanger mirror....read morehide

I have owned two Lexus RX's and would compare the quality to the Sportage. It would be better had it more HP and a little more comfort in the front seats. Fit and finish are great. I drive 1100 each week for a total of 18 hours -- I feel that I know it. Controls are good except for the trip reset buttons. I have had zero problems in 9,000 miles. Handling is good. I would prefer to have them reshape the two side mirrors for a little bit more of a view. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Do I have any hesitations? Absolutely NOT. Great SUV....read morehide

- Pros
- Good On Fuel
- Cons
- Ride is rough indeed!
Purchased As New
Firstly, it is a fun car to drive and it does look good. Got the AWD. Love the blue tooth capability. Fuel economy is ok. Ride is rough. I would expect a much more comfortable ride out of a cross-over. The ride in my former Yaris was smoother. That being said, on a straight road without bumps, the Sportage performs well. I am especially impressed with its power pick-up when going up a slope or hill. So if Kia and Hyundai designers are reading this, WORK ON THE SHOCK ABSORBERS!...read morehide

- Cons
- back seats do not fold down flat, blind spot on back window

I traded a Toyota Matrix for this car and don't regret it at all. The Toyota had many problems after the warranty ran out, eats tires right up and wheel bearings. The red Kia is a sharp looking car. Very happy with my purchase.

- Pros
- Fast Acceleration, Styling, Good Fuel Economy
- Cons
- Stiff ride, terrible rear visibilty

Had this car for about it week now and it's great. So far everyone that has seen it has been very impressed by my blue sx sportage. It looks very nice on the outside, and the interior is great too. I bought the luxury package, so I have heated/cooled power seats, nav, satellite radio, dual sunroofs, leather, and push to start. All of those really make this feel like a nice car, closer to an audi q5 than a cr-v or rav4.
The acceleration is phenomenal, it has no trouble getting up to speed or passing on the highway. It steers relatively well also.
On the downside, the front passenger seat is not power adjustable, and the ride can get a little bumpy. Also, rear visibility is bad, but the backup camera helps a lot.
All, in all great car, especially for only $33,000!...read morehide1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

- fuel economy, unproven reliability

As a person that fully believes in the Japanese big 3, I decided to give Korea a try. So far, so good. I've had the car for 3 weeks and aside from the malignment, I have no major problems.
The ECO minder was bothering me so I finally learned to turn it off. You have to drive very tenderly to reach that 32 MPG mark on the highway I wish the EPA would fix their rating system.
If I had to choose again, I'd look at the Rogue more closely but I think the Sportage still would've won because of the overall package combined with the price....read morehide1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.
