- Completely dependable, uniquely styled.
- No negatives.
I've always been intrigued by the Discovery, but balked at purchase based on complaints about maintenance and reliability. On the strength of assurances that that the '04s were a huge improvement over the models from just a few years before, I took the plunge last November. This truck turned out to be the perfect midwestern winter vehicle. No road impediment is its equal. I knew I had a special vehicle when I easily rolled down the road in a blizzard while my friend could barely move in his pricey Cayenne. I have had ZERO problems with it in the first six months. It is a completely reliable road champion. I love its unique appearance and style. I always feel like I'm the envy of every SUV driver I see on the road. And the fact that I got one of the last of the breed (before the LR3s) adds to the romance. I love my truck, and I imagine I'll drive it for 200,000 miles. What an incredible value!...read morehide

I have a 2004 Discovery S, it's my third Land Rover. My last Discovery was a 1998 (Series I). I have had no major issues with either vehicle. The 2004 comes with roadside assistance included as well as ALL scheduled mainainence for the first 4 years. Their warranty is very solid, like the frame and chassis.
The 2004 Discovery has a few very nice additions from previous Disco's. The brakes are larger for better stopping power, it's got a 4.6L engine that was previously only available as an upgrade on a Range Rover, and they have brought back the center locking differental to further elevate the vehicle's capabilities. Traction control, hill decent control, and 4-wheel off-road anti-lock brakes are also standard.
I have had times where other 4WD vehicles were getting stuck or sliding off the road attempting to get up a hill in moderate snow and I just pass them almost as if there were no snow at all. I'm never afraid of the road conditions (although wary of them and cautious)....read morehide

- Good in the snow
- Too many to list here
This is the worst car we have ever leased. On the weekend of the one year aniversary of having the car, my husband and two small kids were riding on a three lane highway luckily my husband was in the right lane when the engine blew and the car shut down and he was able to coast onto the shoulder. and that was just the beginning of the problems. 3 out of the 4 windows have had the motors replaced. Check engine frequently goes on leaving us paranoid wondering if the engine is going to shut down again. Both front headlights have had to be replaced frequently. And after 18 months the rotors and pads had to be replaced. And now the back door won't open being a real inconvenience since that's where we keep the stroller. All this and we've only had the car 2 1/2 years. Needless to say we will not be leasing a Land Rover again....read morehide
