If you would like to be miserable driving a bumpy truck, a vehicle that will make your heart rhythm go off the chart, a vehicle whose tire pressure monitoring system is always faulty while driving on a smooth road, forget about off the road capability, then invest your hard earned money on this vehicle. British junk. Lots of stupid mechanical work. Switches are inconvenient and user un-friendly. Hard to tell if parking brake is applied.

Had it for over a year and this is my 2nd HSE. The one before was 2004 HSE. Great car if you can keep up with repairs, and Im not talking about regular maintenance. Im talking about few thousand dollar repairs every two or three months.
Oil Leak from every where,
Coolant leaks
Electrical problems one after another
Suspension problems day and night,
ABS problems 4 times a year,
HDC inactive - 8 months a year
Right front side door actuator replaced twice in one year.
Air suspension inactive all day long.

Same identical problems as my 2004. read forums about this car. Same problems on all cars.
Your regular ODB II scanner does not work in many cases, you need to have a Range Rover specific diagnostic tool called T4 ( worth more than the car itself)

I mean, repairs, repairs and more repairs...
Overpriced junk 100%. Unless you want to buy it instead of a Christmas Tree, because 9 months out of a year all warning lights are on. It's colorful.

I own another 2008 Escalade Esv. Bought new for 78K... Heavier than the HSE, Slower than the HSE, Towing is better than HSE and 99% more dependable than HSE and in 3 years have not had anything broken.

P.S. Is it weird to get in and out of an HSE? or it's just me?...read morehide

I test drove this car earlier today.

It's a box on wheels: it's got no shape. The Evoque, the BMW X6, or even the much, much cheaper Nissan Juke have curves where you want curves on a car. This is flat and boring.

It's not excessively comfortable either, especially not for a car you spend $90K on. You'd think they'd include a walnut dashboard...

It's not excessively powerful either, for 90 grand i can get way more power, and driving fun. And the 90 grand is just the beginning. You'll be stopping every few miles you do for petrol.

But the worst thing about this car is the reliability. The engine can screw up any minute, and if it happens while you're offroading, you're screwed. I hear sometimes it doesn't even start. I'm lucky it did for me.

The one area where i can't complain is the offroading. it handles itself perfectly, better even than the Defender, and dangerously close to the Wildcat, while keeping something close to comfort. if you're one of the people that buy 4x4s because they love driving on rocky terrain, you might actually like this.

But for myself, i'd buy the BMW X6M, The Cadillac Escalade, the Audi Q7, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, The Ssanyong Rexton...anything before this pile of crap....read morehide
