Purchased As New
I bought my 200h premium for an outstanding year-end price. I really wanted the car and got it. The build quality, interior features, and attention to detail really make this an elegant and sporty vehicle. I've never been more impressed with a car's technology than with the 200h.
First off, it's not a Prius, nor does it does share any platform with the Prius. Lexus uses the Prius hybrid technology, but that's it. There is one issue I need to stress to any potential buyers: I live in a large Texas city with long, high-speed morning and evening commutes, and I tell you what-this car can move. Turn the knob to sport and it responds without any hesitation. The gas mileage is great, but not terrific.
Maybe it's where I live, but the only issue I've noticed with the car is that the gas mileage has been a bit disappointing. Even when driving conservatively with with light traffic for on long stretches of road, the best mileage is around 42 mpg. In town and mixed freeway will get me 34-37.5 mpg. *Do not expect to get 50 or 60 mpg on the vehicle if you live in a large city* A lot of people on here are claiming terrific mileage, but I wonder where do they live? That being said, this Lexus is no snob, and only requires 87 octane gas while every car coming out now requires the good stuff, which I couldn't be more pleased with.
The urban myth about the "hybrid battery" needing to be replaced is unfounded, and anyway, has a warranty that covers it for years to come.
The 200h doesn't disappoint or stray from Lexus' solid interior and exterior build quality, however, this isn't an all leather and mahogany adorned $50K luxury car. The simulated leather seating though is superior to that which BMW uses as standard in their vehicles.
All and all, I believe Lexus is attempting to bring in more brand-loyal customers with this vehicle. The price point justifies buying Lexus, and my Lexus dealer treats me like a king each time stop in for a car wash or scheduled check-up.
I myself would buy my car over again in a heartbeat. As a guy who's owned premium vehicles in my life, I definitely would recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants .18 out of 19 people found this review helpful.
