2005 Lexus ES 330 User Reviews
- nice design in and out
- transmission jerky/performance is below par
wow, i didn't expect a BMW, but this car is like driving a school bus. horrible body lean on the corners, and a sluggish and jerky transmission. hard to control the car b/c it takes a couple seconds after you push the gas petal before the car goes, then it surges forward. i hear there's a class action lawsuit against lexus. so much for their 'relentless pursuit of perfection"....read morehide

- fit and finish are perfect, smooth ride
- awful transmission -- hesitates and jerks
I am really disappointed in the overall driving experience with this car. The engine (transmission) hesitation problem is well publicized now, and it is indeed awful. I wish I'd known about the problem -- I would never have bought this car. Lexus has also been a pain to deal with -- they won't or can't fix the problem, and now say the car is supposed to do it. Yeah, right.
This was my first, and will be my last Lexus/Toyota ever....read morehide

- nice smooth quiet ride - handles great
- see below
Not a flat surface in the car, can't lay down a pen, pad or cell phone. No automatic tilt wheel avail, no back-up sensors avail., no storage space especiallly if you have cd changer in center console, navigation can only be operated when car is completly stopped, eliminates pass. from operating while your driving). can't use plug in battery charger when car is turned off. Can't use the pre-set drivers position seat settings when car is turned off...read morehide

- Great ride, fun to drive, quiet ride for the size
- review mirrors could be larger
Combines smooth ride with handling better than any car I've owned, which include 2 BMW's and 3 Mercedes. The only car I've had that I like more the longer I have it, and it cost half what some of the others did. Got 33MPG on a recent trip to the coast, getting 25MPG overall. Has most of the features you would expect in cars twice the price, so it's an excellant value. Good interior space usage, larger inside than it looks....read morehide

- Looks good, feels good when not accelerating - pretty comfortable
- Hesitation on acceleration is dangerous and is not up to my expectations of quality from Lexus.
Hesitation during acceleration is dangerous and frustrating. I hve had mine for less than 3 months and under 4200 miles. It feels like you are losing power for a second or two - at critical junctures (like going through an intersection from a stop). From lexus (and this is my 5th lexus), it is probably enough for me to not go back....read morehide

- quiet engine, nice interior and exterior
- steering wheel is off to the right and not pleasant to drive
Oh my god, I thought I was the only one having this problem with the steering wheel! It's off to the right and it's not centered like it's supposed to like a normal car should be, especially when it's a new one. I regret purchasing this car, my left arm aches everytime when I drive this vehicle. It looks pretty and sharp and the interior is nice-looking, but its steering is not center and keeps drifting to the left when it's on the road. Why can't they correct this major steering issue? At the moment I'm thinking of dumping this so-call luxury car and buy a Kia that at least gives you a straight steering wheel to drive with. I just hate this vehicle!!!...read morehide

- Quiet Engine and looks sharp
- crooked steering wheel and loose steering
The car looks sharp, the engine is quiet, but the steering wheel is crooked to the right (left hand is always high when driving). The reason behind it is because the steering column is mount crooked to the right, so therefore you'll get a crooked steering wheel. The entire fleet of 2005 ES330 have crooked steering wheel. Not fun to drive and gives your left arm feeling numb after driving it. Overall, good car with horrible steering issues. No one should ever drive a car with a crooked steering wheel. I, for one, should know because I own one. Ugh. Can't wait to junk this car ASAP....read morehide

- Interior comfort
- Rough shift patterns, "dead spot" in acceleration. Lurches upon acceleration from stop.
Vehicle has great comfort and ride. BUT transmission shifts hard and when accelerating from a stop, vehicle "lurches" after a slight hesitation. I have taken this issue to the dealer and they state that there is nothing they can do and is aware of the problem. I was so frusterated that I wanted to take the car back to dealer and get my money back. I am VERY dissatisfied with the drivability....read morehide

- Beautiful car, great comfort.
- Horrible let down on performance due to transmission problems
I purchased this car after owning another Lexus 450 amd my extended family owns 4 other Lexus models. I am a repeat customer who came and purchased a Lexus 330 ES.
I have 3000 miles on my car and have taken it in 2 times (once the dealership did not return my phone call) due to my car grinding each time I started the car. It is getting so bad that I do not feel safe on the freeway. The pick up is slow and it does not shift properly and slows down.
I was told that the computer needs to learn my driving pattern and it will smooth out. The hesitation prior to shifting also persists.
I am so angry and want to write to Lexus and ask them to do something about this. The dealers are being very shifty about it.
Is anyone interested in joining me to get some action from Lexus?
Any suggestions? I would not have bought this car if I knew this was how it would perform....read morehide
