2007 Lexus GS 450h User Reviews
- MPG, Radar Cruise Control, Comfort, Fast
- Doesn't turn heads or handle quite like a BMW...but its close
I just traded by 2005 BMW 545i in for the 450h. I drove it from SoCal to washington the second day I owned it, and have zero complaints. The radar cruise is awesome, it breaks and acceleterates while keeping an accurate distance. The Mark Levinson audio sound is superior the BMW premium sound. The Park Assist and back up camera are also very handy and efficent.
The Lexus drives somewhere between a Mercedes and a BMW. It doesn't float like the benz or have complete road feel like the BMW.
I bought this car because I wanted a car that could handle some snow. The Hybrid Snow mode works very well... I have already been in a snow storm a didn't have a problem... my 545i with 20" wheels would not have made it trough that storm.
Also the styling isn't a sleek as a BMW in my opinion... but still looks very sharp.
I am very happy with my new Lexus, and would recommend a 450h to anyone in the market....read morehide

- Quietness, Mid-range tourque, 0 to 60 speed, Fuel economy
- Trunk space if you need it
Lexus has finally released a car that can compete with the germans v-8 and v-10's. This car combines speed and tourque with what Lexus is best known for, Reliability, Luxury fit and finish and quietness. Unlike the german auto makers, who think you car has to rattle and roar to make it sound faster, the GS 450h is so quiet and quick you will feel like you flying in space....read morehide

When I first bought this car I was very happy with the performance handeling etc............Until it broke down on the freeway, took it to the dealer and the CPU was the issue. After picking the car up I found myself once again stranded on the freeway everything went dead????
Again back to the dealer, there explanation this time was another cpu that was faulty. Three days later I found myself again stranded on the road side.
Since buying this car 3 months ago its been in the shop a total of 6 times!!!!!! I'm looking into the lemon law but they say its a different problem each time. If you like the coffe and doughnuts the serve in the dealers waiting lounge go head and buy this car...read morehide

- Blistering performance, very quiet, Lexus fit and finish and reliability
- Roof is too short for taller drivers, Voice recognition not the greatest
My GS 450h was valet parked last night next to BMWs, a Lexus convertible, etc. As the valet attendant returned the car to us, he said "This car is awesome. Best car I've parked all night."
Forget anything you've previously driven from Toyota or Lexus. The plush ride is still there in the background, but handling is so much better and the sheer torque and acceleration is breathtaking. I easily chased a 545i down the highway last week, at speeds up to 120 mph. Granted, despite the improvements this Lexus still does not have the preternatural handling of a BMW, but in my opinion the fit, finish, reliability, and technology (hybrid powertrain, continuously variable transmission, etc) of the GS 450h put it over the top.
Drawbacks: If you're tall, you really need to sit in a GS because the roof is pretty short. I'm 6 feet 1 inch and I tend to sit straight up, and my head touches the roof. And yes, the trunk is tiny, which I guess would be a drawback if this were your only vehicle. However, for the 360 days a year in which I'm driving the GS 450h to work or just around the town, the small trunk is a non-issue. If I'm going to Costco or taking a trip which requires lots of luggage, then (like most other people out there who have 2 vehicles) I just drive our other vehicle, an SUV.
If you're in the market for a BMW 5 series/M5, Audi A6/S4/RS4, or Inifiniti M, you really need to drive this car. Don't take my word for it, just read some of the other reviews......read morehide

- Good fuel economy for the performance, sporty feel, lexus reliability
- Very small trunk space, Busy dashboard, vehicle availability
This review is based on an extended test drive this past week.
I have been in the market for a sport sedan with an 8-cylinder engine and was leaning toward a BMW 550i. I have never been a fan of Lexus because their cars are generally geared toward luxury with a soft ride and mediocre handling although the reliability of their cars almost makes up for these drawbacks. However, I decided to check this model out before making my final decision. I came away with a favorable impression. First of all, the smooth acceleration is something to be experienced. The electric motor provides the full amount of torque from the get go before the gas engine kicks in. The transition is virtually seamless in the car I tested although there have been reports that there was a shudder in some of the cars that have been on the road for a while. The handling of the car is not as precise as the BMW but better than the E series Mercedes that I had tested. The ride is fairly composed especially in the Sport setting. The dashboard was a little too busy for my taste with good quality plastic buttons for the Nav, etc. It is definitely better than Infiniti's M series' interior. The seats were comfortable but not as comfortable as BMW's comfort sport seat. The biggest disappointment was the tiny trunk space. Of course the battery takes up a lot of the room but the space that was left is a joke for a car of this size!
In summary, I liked the car for its performance and fuel consumption. Plus it is rather cool for the technology that went into this vehicle. The small trunk space virtually eliminates using this car for a trip for the family(or even for a couple without kids!). However, the biggest drawback at this time is the availability of this vehicle. Despite my misgivings about the trunk, I wanted to purchase this vehicle. The dealer, which is one of the biggest in the Southwest area, has not even been able to tell me when I would be able to get one and this is 3 days after I placed my order. I have also heard that the only available color is black at this time.
Oh well...I think I'll have to trot over to my local BMW dealer after all....read morehide

- Lexus GS450h - A carriage fit for a Medici
- Trunk space
It's fast, clean, top quality, a techno tour de force in almost total
silence and beautiful interior fit and finiish!!! So....??
Only one thing, the trunk space!!! Why, because that is where the
batteries go for the hybrid part of the operation. The trunk space is about 2/3 times the trunk space in the GS430.
Faster than the IS350, and as luxurious as the LS430, this Lexus is a
very tough act to follow!!!!
On top of all that it is very economical - so what are you waiting for???...read morehide

- fuel economy, quality, performance
- can't really think of anything
Lexus is amazing! the new Lexus have the best interiors on the planet other then rolls and bentley. The performance with the fuel economy for the new Lexus line is revolutionary. Not only the hybrid, my friend bought the IS 350. That thing is almost as fast as a BMW M3 and consumes about as much fuel as a 325i. Incredible. I think Lexus will be the top luxury car very soon....read morehide
