2007 Lexus GS 450h User Reviews
- No trim specified for this review
- Great performance, nice exterior design
- Lack of trunk space, no ipod adaptor available
Prior to purchase, I test drove this car many times. Was indecisive between the 450h and another brand.
What attracted me to this car was the sleek design and it's performance.
Pick up speed was almost as good as my CLK500. It is true that the 450h does not have as tight handling as the BMW, but I'm buying this car for comfort and I don't want to feel every bump on the road like a BMW.
Due to the hybrid engine, this car is very quiet. I'm sensitive to noise so I like a quiet car. On the highway, the wind noise is not too loud, typical of luxury cars.
The interior is soft and plush. I also like the interior layout of the Lexus. The designers actually put lots of consideration to the driver.
There was plenty of leg room in the rear seats, except for my 6'4" friend who complained it was a little tight. I'm 5'10" and I didn't have a problem with the head room.
Now here is why I was hesitant to purchase the 450h.
There is almost no trunk space. One must actually see the lack of trunk space with their own eyes before purchasing the 450h.
It's enough to fit couple of medium sized suitcases or only one golf bag.
Well, one might think that you can get more trunk space by folding down the rear seats. No can do with this car. Since the batteries are located between the rear seats and the trunk, you cannot make more room in the trunk. The batteries are the reason why the trunk space is limited.
I didn't notice it until someone pointed it out but the GS has a slight feminine look. The IS looks a little more aggressive but I'm not young enough to be driving the IS.
For those who are comparing between the GS models, (450h, 430, 350) since Lexus upgraded the 330 to a 350, they'll probably upgrade the 430 to a 460. You might want to get a 460. I'm sure that model will have higher performance than the 450h. Since the 450h uses a 3.3L gas engine, I wonder if they'll upgrade to the 3.5L engine...
Most likely, a person who's buying this car is not really thinking about gas prices and conserving gas. Therefore you should not think that you'll get great gas mileage. I always take 10% off of the gas mileage rating for real world driving. So depending on your driving style you'll probably get somewhere around the mid 20's.
My overall satisfaction is not 5 stars due to the lack of trunk space and a few minor tidbits, but people have different tastes and personalities and the 450h seems to fit me pretty well.
