2009 Lexus GX 470
There are 2 user reviews for the 470 trim shown below
- Quiet and very comfortable ride
- Cargo space, 3rd row seating
Purchased As New
I leased a '07 GX470.
3 months left on the lease, I'm starting to shop for a replacement.
The problem is, my wife loves to drive this truck.
Visibility is better than our other car (Audi A4 Conv).
Performance and pick-up is more than adequate for it's size and weight.
The rear air suspension is much better than coil springs or struts (commonly found on mid sized SUV's)
All in all, I like the truck's safety records and handling.
Time for complaints:
About the rear entertainment system... the headsets are poorly made, both of my battery case covers were broken after only using it a few times, and the fold down screen blocks half of the rear view mirror when open.
About the 3rd row fold-up seating... when in use, there is practically no room for luggage.
Without it, the fold-up seating is a good idea, but badly designed. You can easily crush your hands when the seat "drops" into the locking position. You can't just retract your hand as you're dropping the seat, due to the carpeting in the trunk. You "have to" hold the notched section of the carpet in the vertical position in order for the seat to properly engage the lock into the frame. If you don't hold it, the carpet will fold back on itself before the seat is secured and you'll have to do it all over again.
I'm surprised that I haven't heard of any law-suits about it....read morehide

- Handsome exterior. Quiet Cabin.
- Lack of Power. Cramped Interior. Gas Guzzler. Squeaky breaks.
Purchased As New
Bought the GX brand new. Breaks started squeaking when car was under warranty. Multiple dealer service visits unable to resolve problem. WARNING: Per service advisor and manager at South Bay Lexus "It's common for these cars to squeak". "They took the asbestos out of the break pads, even some of the new Lexuses squeak and there is nothing we can do about it". I guess consumers has to buy at their own risks. Too bad if you ended up with one that turns heads constantly at stop signs due to squeaking. Funny how consumers' expectations are much high than the trained Lexus service personnel. Would recommend thinking twice before purchasing a Lexus due to above comments from Lexus....read morehide
