2007 Lexus IS 250 User Reviews
6-Speed Sequential with All Wheel Drive shown
- $14,464 - $15,802
- Excellent standard features, plush interior, lexus quality
- Very slow, ride is bumpy, easily dented and scratched, ridiculous cost to own
I had this car for a year (the 2006 is identical). I felt while a great car with a refined interior and excellent styling, the costs surrounding the car are absolutley ridiculous. The tires the car came with sprung two flats over semi-rough roads and expensive to replace. The alignment went out three times, and once not covered by Lexus. The brakes had issues. I felt the car handed less well then my 6 year old Grand Am sometimes. I traded in for a Honda Civic and am much more satisfied. This car, while sexy, elegant, and fun to drive, will make you crazy as a daily driver unless you have near-perfect driving conditions....read morehide

- Fuel econonomy, the look is sexy, reliable, well-built...quality of material is just amazing.
Just had it for a month ago but i just love it. I tried the 3series and A4 but this car is just comfortable and sexy to drive. Good handling with the Sports Package 18"inches wheel, braking system are excellent, quality of material, leather seats. Definitely the best car I owned so far..and it's a Lexus...Pursuit of Perfection! ;-)...read morehide

- Good fuel economy, NAVI is cool, sexy styling, I LOVE THE X-PACK
- back seat, black color requires a lot of cleaning
I love this car, definetly over the 3 series, Benz C230 and even the G35. The X-package is worth the extra money, it handles brilliantly on corners and the front lip spoiler gives the car a lowered sexy look, and I love the rims that comes with the X-PACK but will require a lot of cleaning to keep it looking clean. Also, be very careful on bumps and avoid pot-holes on the ground, it can mess up the 18" rims. The sound system is great and the NAVI is very clear and screen is large. Only drawback about the NAVI is that some features are disabled when the car is in motion, I guess for safety reasons. My main complaint about the car is the backseat. Being 6 feet tall, I put my driver seat all the way back which then will only fit midgets in the back seat. Basically, the backseat is great for kids but not for grown tall adults. I do recommend adding a rear spoiler, it makes the car look better overall, in my opinion....read morehide

- Some many high-end options comes standard that it makes it one of the best value available.
- If you do alot of hard braking, you will see alot of brake dust on the rims.
This is by far the best car I have ever own or driven. IS stands for Intellegent Sport. And that is exactly what this car is. It is the more sophisticated sport car out there for under $35K. Also, IS has the highest saftey rating of it class. That data was provided by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). If you just want a car for how it handle and speed, then I recommend the IS350 or BMW 330 (for $40K+). But If you like all the options and great gas mileage (32 hwy mpg), then this car is you....read morehide

- Nice fuel economy, Good sound system, Nice handling, Good Styling, Very comfortable, Decent Power
- Not enough options for the Manual model, Could use more power
Overall a very nice car. I havent had it that long yet (purchased 2/4/07) so i havent had any little things go wrong. My first impression of the vehicle, is that it is very sporty, nice luxuries, fairly roomy. I have read about complaints of the rear seats being to small, but i can fit in the back seat fine with my front seat positioned the way i like it and i am 5'11". The 204hp is not a lot, but it is enough to get you around town in a timely manner. I love the Adaptive HID headlight system. The brakes seem a little grabby right now but i think that is just because the car is still in the break in period. I am a huge fan of the sunroof. I like that fact that it has positions on the opener, so that you dont have to play with how far you want it open while driving. The standard sound system is very nice. The 12-speaker system is more than enough. All the compartments are very nice, especially for me, cause i always have little knick knacks that i have laying around, its nice having a place for them. I am not a huge fan of the dashboard, but everything else is beautiful, the brushed metal and the leather interior are top quality. The shift chambers feel a little clunky right now, but i am just hoping that is something that will smooth out over time. Overall i am very happy with the car....read morehide

- Great fuel economy, Awesome look, Surrounding sound system, Large trunk.
- Brake dust is too much but gives an excuse to keep it clean often. Back seat not a lot of room.
This car is a nice car to show off to your friends. They will love it. Even though you have to use 91 octane gas to keep the performance, it will not consume a lot of fuel. It has great acceleration to help you beat those other cars at the red light.

- Well engineered, great AWD system, comfortable even for tall people, good performance
- Consider the back seat a parcel shelf - pretty much useless if youre tall, brake dust is annoying
With all the snow we've recently experienced in the NW, weve found the AWD system to be superb, rivals our RX 330 in bad weather and is much more fun to drive. We have driven the IS over our mountain passes, and had zero trouble, even in near blizzard conditions. There is sufficient power in the 250 to get one into trouble, but also to keep one out of trouble. Unusually good road handling and the car corners like its on rails. This vehicle is sporty, without being a service center magnet, reliability seems to be excellent. Fuel mileage, since new, has averaged 24+ and that includes some severe winter driving conditions. We have see 30 MPG on the open road.
A few nit picks, rear seat is about useless, especially if you are tall, and have the fronts moved back. There should be a folding mechanism for the rear seats rather than just a ski pass through. As mentioned above, the brake dust on the rims is really annoying, our RX doesnt have this issue, and from what Ive read, it seems to be peculiar to the IS (both 250 and 350). One other issue is the headlights which seem a bit low. We had to have ours adjusted as when new, anything over 20 MPH was overdriving the lights (turns out that they were miss-adjusted from factory better now but still not great).
To sum it up, we would buy the car again. Performance, mileage and comfort are great, and priced well below the competing offerings of other true sport sedans....read morehide

- Solid car, even the small motor runs strong, the X package is worth the money.
I gave up my Infinty G35 Coupe so my wife could have this car, and at first I really missed my car, but after driving the IS 250 a couple of times I was really impressed with how well it handled. I payed the extra for the X Package and it was worth the money. The ride is stiff like a sports car and it has very minumal body roll. I recomend this car to anyone who needs a small four door sports car. I test drove the 325I and this car hands down smokes it in every way....read morehide
