- Styling, great gas mileage, affordable...love looking at it!
- TIght rear seating
Purchased As Used
I recently purchased my Certified IS250 AWD with 28K miles and love it so far, have had it for a week and the drive/feel is amazing. I've always liked the styling of the car and know several people who own one, and never a complaint. I previously owned a Legacy 3.0R car, loved it too, but the drive was rough and gas mileage was so-so. I look forward to many years with the car (hoping I have good luck with it) and so far I've been really impressed....read morehide

- Looks amazing, smooth ride, loud sound system, reliable
- Expensive service and parts, acceleration, brake dust
Purchased As New
When you want a review, you want to hear the bads things before the good.. This car is expensive to maintain. At the dealership (which is recommended) an avg service: estimated 125$ or for the major service (25,000 & 40,000 whatever mileage): 400$ each time.. For tires on this bad boy, grand total: around 800$ (with a friend discount). The brake dust burned into my front rims and now the chrome will never look the same and you have to keep up with keeping them clean or they don't even look chrome. For how quick the car looks, the acceleration is a bit slow but the car delivers power when your already on the move. Something happened with the brakes and I had to pay 600$ for new front rotors, which they ended up recalling, go figure. This is why I suggest going to the dealership for service because they know your car better than any other place, trying to save money costs you more in the end. Other than those few negatives, this car is great. I made it from LA to Vegas and back on a little over a tank of gas. The car is extremely quiet, people don't even think the car is on when there in it. It handles extremely well and smooth, don't listen to these "sports car connoisseurs" , you get more than you pay for I personally think. I drove through the mountains to go snowboarding about 12 times this season and I felt like I was in a commercial with how well it took windy roads and bumps, as well as snow..even without rear wheel drive because of the traction control. This car was not made to be a family car, the backseats are bucket seats and when 2 people are sitting in the back, they are just fine, not to mention they have their own air vents and the center armrest back there has a compartment and cup holders. The sound system is awesome, better than friends who purchased systems for their cars. Since I purchased the car in November of 2006 I have not had a single mechanical problem with the car. . I'm going on 52,000 miles now. This car is extremely reliable.. Toyota has stuck with it's reputation by my standards.. this car will probably last a while and other than service fees and tires, also brakes, this car is definitely recommended if you had it in mind...read morehide

- Great Looks! Good fuel economy, luxury interior.
- Rear seat small for adults.
Great car overal. Fun to drive. I've had a 3 series and a G35, and the Lexus is much more luxurious inside. Great handling, enough power.

- stylish, fuel economy, comfort, quiet ride
- rear seat room, visibility
I bought my IS 250 about 2 months ago and I love it! It's such a nice car inside and out. I took this car on a road trip and at one point was getting an average of 38 mpg. It's amazing! Also, the ride is very quiet. My dad owns an Infiniti M and we both agree the Lexus is quieter on the freeway.
The only complaints I have so far is the lack of visibility at times, and the lack of rear seat room. Other than that, it's a great car! Highly recommended!...read morehide

- The appearance, performance, leather, and no needing to start the car with a key. Also CHEAP.
- Nothing but the power. Wished it had 280 hp or more.
This car is powerful enough to beat many muscle cars, by the top speed (140 mph). All ratings are EXCELLENT.

- great gas mileage, very reactive handling, easy access to all controls, air conditioned/heated seats
- Ride is a little rough,
We spent months going between the G35 and he IS 250, I have to say I LOVE my Lexus and have NO doubt that we made the right decision. This car is a dream to drive. You may want to note that the hood of the car is aluminum and will chip very easy. I am sold on Lexus!!!

- I just drove to Yosemite from San Diego, 350 mi each way, 32 mpg going and 35 mpg coming
- Excessive brake dust on front wheels
2008, IS250 w/18" wheels, no nav. By far the best car I've ever owned! I just got rid of my Mercedes C230 Kompressor (garbage car) and purchased this wonderful automobile.
For $32,000 you will not find a better vehicle!
Buy this car!

- Better than average fuel, very luxurious interior, SmartKey system, classy design, quiet ride.
- Choppy riding over road imperfections, pickup a bit slow, car sits low to ground.
We compared between the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-class, however in the end it was Lexus that came out on top due to reliability and typical "Lexus Luxury". Main expectations were ride smoothness and quietness and the IS250 delivers this and more. Everything about the car is very classy in design, the exterior is head-turning but yet sophisticated, it's nothing trite (imo such as BMW's rather bland exterior) or overt (C-class try-too-hard bling factor). The ride can get a bit harsh over imperfect roads but this is expected since this is a sports car. The IS250 is very good on gas mileage and powerful for such a small engine. The interior is very luxurious with soft leather, good steering wheel gripping, and other small things such as the instrument panel, map lights, and fade in/out lights. It is also very quiet and seems like the car is not even on. The stock sterero system makes you feel like you're listening to live music. The technology for this car is also ingenious with the SmartKey access where one can unlock the doors just by holding the door handle, and starting the push button ignition. As for safety, the car grips the road very well, hard-cornering is a breeze, feels like you're driving a tank. The doors are heavy when opening/closing which gives a great feel of security and doesn't feel like cheap tin. Long list of standard features as well. C-class has sub-par standard features and BMW nickel & dimes you to death for extras.
Some cons for the IS250 is the pickup speed from stop lights are a bit slow but seems to be improving along break-in, and the IS also sits low to the ground which is prone to scraping under the front bumper when parking with cement stoppers.
If you want to enjoy your luxury car for years, go with the Japanese reliability Lexus. Overall the Lexus IS250 is a very superb luxury car for the money spent and you get the most out of what you pay for...read morehide

- good fuel economy, AMAZING design, turns lots of heads, fun to drive, makes you feel like a king
- premium fuel
the back seat isn't huge or anything, but I have no problem fitting in it and I am 6 feet 200 lbs. its interior and exterior design is amazing. the handling is great. it has good acceleration, no supercar but what's the point of a supercar unless you're on a planet with no speed limits? you feel like a king when you drive this car. the steptronic transmissoin or whatever each company decides to name it makes it so much more fun to drive. the paddle shifters are fun to use, but it can be tricky shifting from first to second while turning a corner, for example a right turn from a stop sign, as the shifters turn with the wheel. the only problem I have noticed is that when turning into a steep driveway I heard a creaking noise that came from the sunroof area, possibly because the inside cover was slid back and the sound wasn't insulated. overall, amazing car that is worth every cent if not more, and if you do not have one, go buy it....read morehide
