2006 Lexus IS 350 User Reviews

- Well built!
- none yet!
Purchased As Used
Purchased a used 2006 IS350 early this year and boy I was happy! To me it's almost perfection! Styling are top notch! Power are superb! I will be keeping this car till it falls off it's wheels, but that will be maybe "never" so I will have this car forever , ha ha! I driven a BMW 3 series and it was "rough", never felt safe in it, never felt secured with engine/transmission life. Very costly to repair and keep and to me, 3 series is "clunky" heavy cars! Lexus is the way to go, save your money and drive anywhere and use your money to shop not pay repair maintenance on a BMW!!! Peace!! God Bless Lexus!!...read morehide

- Junk car
Lexus 2007 ES 350-the new motor they put in this model this year is a piece of junk. It clicks and bangs like a diesel engine. When contacting Lexus about this problem, they said "TOO BAD" we don't care.
They are not telling the public about this problem. It is a horrible engine and very loud.
Most people have a radio going or heat on and cannot hear it when testing the car.
How can this car be on the market? Why have consumer advocates allowed Lexus to get away with this?
DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!...read morehide

- Good Mileage, 306HP, Stylish design, Sporty Sedan.
- Handling could be more responsive, Rear view mirror shakes, Backseat space.
Overall it took me a month of comparing all cars in this price range and in the end I went with the Lexus because of the 306HP and the styling of it. Besides all the accolades that other people have mentioned, there are some cons.
1) Backseat. Why put a backseat in this car when leg room is VERY small, and pretty much useless? Maybe to save on car insurance? It doesn't bother me much since I don't have kids or picking people up.
2) The Rear view mirror shakes a LOT. Any tiny bump in the road will shake the thing. My first car in high school didn't shake as much.
3) This car isn't as agile as other cars in this range... such as the BMW, TL, G35. But it does have the most power going straight line... very responsive in acceleration, just not as much on turns....read morehide

- looks awesome inside and out
- very noisy when car is not moving! very disappointing customer service when told about problem
We've had this car for over 8 months now - we purchased it end of may 2006. After doing months of research, we finally decided on the is350 because of how it looks, who made it, and on paper, it's features just sounded really good. Several months ago though, we started noticing that the car just sounded loud when it wasn't moving - like on a stoplight or simply before we would turn the engine off before we'd get out of it. We've mentioned it twice when we'd take the car for service - 1st they said they didn't hear what we were saying, the next time, they said they now know what we were talking about but can't really do anything about it. It was the fuel injector is what was making the noise they said. We called corporate about it and we were basically pushed aside here and there...maybe thinking that we would just drop it and disappear...until finally we were told that it is what it is (the whole trying to get a hold of someone from corporate who would give us answers took over a month and all we got was - sorry that's how the car is).
To tell you more about the sound...it is, to me, like a noisy engine sound. My husband calls it diesel-engine like - almost like a constant rattling or knocking. It is very annoying because that is not how it was when we first bought it - defintely NOT!
So buyer beware! I don't think this is what you expect of a typical lexus...it certainly is not what we expected in terms of quality....read morehide

- Very fast car that performs well. My car came with the Levinson stereo and I love it.
- With the sport suspension, the ride is rough. Worst problem is that I needed a new tranny after 3 mo
I bought a Lexus for quality, but this car was a lemon. The check engine light
came on at 3500 miles and Lexus, after first not being able to figure out what was wrong, eventually put an entirely new transmission and torque converter in it. This warranty repair would have cost $7500 out of warranty. I am not happy about this. My other car is a BMW and one reason I went with Lexus over another BMW is that Lexus/Toyota has an excellent reputation for reliability. Well, my parents owned a Ford Pinto in the 1970s and it managed to make it 3500 miles without needing an entire transmission. I never, ever used the paddle shifters. Any shifting the car did was its own fault. In fact, it shifted very smoothly - more smoothly before the repair than after. Lexus gave me a loaner for the MONTH my car was in the shop, but I cannot say I am a happy camper. I am trying to have them buy it back right now. Otherwise, the car is fun to drive. The ride with the sport package is a little rough, but that is to be expected. The head room is poor (I'm only 6' and I barely have room) and the back seat is so tight as to be virtually unusable. Lexus also is missing some features that BMW has had for a long time, like a 5th wheel as a spare and having the key FOB automatically adjust the settings to the driver's preferences. It is a pain to have to stand there and wait for the seat to adjust after pushing the button. It should start doing that the minute the car is unlocked remotely, like BMW does. I am also kind of annoyed that the Nav cannot be used while driving. Lexus, my passenger might want to use it! Stop trying to protect me from myself! Overall, a nice car but if I had known I would have these issues I would've gone German. The main reason to go Japanese is to avoid these repairs....read morehide

- Comfort (front seats), speed, handling, Lexus dealer service
- Mirror shakes/ vibrates too much, pulls left or right a bit when breaking.
This car is great. It is my second IS series from Lexus. Everything from the interior lighting to the auto down and up for the widows and sunroof to the push button ignition are great. I especially liked the speed sensing steering that helps maneuvering the vehicle at high speeds (along with the speedometer that changes to orange when you are going fast). It did take some time to get used to the placement of the door mounted widow and door buttons though. This hasn't happened yet, but the fact that if the battery in the keyless ignition devise on my keychain runs out, I have to call roadside assistance to get my car started (all you can do is get the windows to roll down to gain access to the vehicle with the hidden key. You cannot start it). The built-in MP3 jack in the center console is very handy too. The IS 350 is a bit bigger than the IS 300 that I was used to but the 350 is an all around great car....read morehide

- Audio system, Soft leather, Head-Turning Style, FAST!!!, Rear Cam + NAV
- You feel a lot of bumps, back seat room
This is my first luxury car, so I wanted to test drive a few before I settled on one. I'm a younger guy, so I wanted more speed than comfort. The Lexus IS 350 provides both. Since this is Lexus's sportier car, the bumps on the road are felt often, but the pick up is ridiculous (0-60 5.3). Outside of he bumps on the road, the car's road noise is minimal and it handles beautifully. Lexus truly knows how to make a luxury car.
I forgot to mention that I test drove the 3 series and the 5 series from BMW and was not impressed at all. The interior seemed cheap and the ride was uncomfortable. As a completely neutral party at the time, I must say that the people posting negative reviews about the Lexus and glorifying the German cars have simply never purchased one....read morehide

- Fun to Drive, comfy, fast as all HECK, good handling, great brakes
- Gas Mileage if you punch it, Head Room a little tight for 6'2", paint is soft, spensive tires
I have had this car for 2 months and I love it. I always look forward to driving it. Very quick and nimble. Nice quality interior materials. Stereo is decent wish I had gotten the ML stereo though. My overall experience has been ok with Lexus. The car had a dent in the front which they fixed, but it did take them 3 tries to get the water spots off the back. The paint scratches easily on this car, I have the dark blue, and it seems soft. I have no idea what that person was talking about with the shredded tires. What were you doing driving next to curbs? you really need to be aware where your tires are when you parrallel park with this baby. I told my wife to er on the side of being to far from the curb. I scratched one of my rims 2 days after I got the car. Overall I think this is a decent car. Its a little small for really tall people over 6'2". But really a joy to drive. Phone voice activation seems to have trouble recognizing numbers. Also I seem to burn through alot of gas, probably cause I drive it to fast....read morehide
