- Great Fuel economy, Ultimate combo of Perf, Tech, and Style.
- Voice Activation is hard of hearing, Small Seats, Interior comfort limited.
Carefully considered all the vehicles in this class. The IS350 had all the features combining Performance, Technology, and Style I was looking for. I bought a black IS350, Sports Model.
I love the performance and acceleration as well as great gas mileage for a higher performance vehicle.
A few minor cons:
- Voice activation has issues comprehending basic commands even with the air OFF. Very annoying.
- Navigation system picks strange routes sometimes avoiding the obvious selection taking you through many side streets instead of navigating you to major thoroughfares.
-Ventilated seats are under powered.
-Cupholder is in completely wrong position when it has a cup in it, blocks shifting and cup hold in arm rest to far back for easy access.
-Seats very narrow. If you gain a few pounds, you'll notice it immediately.
-Window switches in awkward position.
-High friction brake pads make wheels dusty FAST.
-Aux power in armrest is placed too high for most adapters to fit.
-Shift lag when using paddles.
- No trunk light.
- Tinted windows should be included.
- A list of factory presets can be changed at the dealer. All these options should be accessed by the driver through the cars settings which some are available for selection.
- Satellite radio option was very pricey....read morehide

- Power wherever you need it, excellent stock sound, Lexus treats you like no other.
- Hard to not speed, brakes are touchy, tires only last 15k and cost $1250 a set
I really love my car! I bought the Glacier frost mica version. It's a Beaut! The acceleration is no joke. I don't like that the speedometer is in incriments of 20.. no numbers between 60 and 80, making me want to go 80 :) If you had any plans to buy the IS250 you should really consider saving the money to buy this car. The difference of engine power is NIGHT and DAY. One thing the reviews don't tell you is that there are lights that light up under the mirrors when you approach the car at night(as long as your key is in your pocket). Also, it has ominescent interior lighting by way of indirect white LEDs that shine from above the floorboard area, directly above the console, and in the console cup holder which make you feel like you're in some type of jet at night.
PS Lexus sent a plant to my house the next day, a letter signed by the whole dealersip, oh and a bottle of wine at purchase as well....read morehide

- LOOKS, luxury, comfort, speed, GPS/sound
- GPS is slightly confusing, cupholder awkwardly positioned, wood panel scratches easily
I have the 2007 IS350 in Obsidian Black with the Premium Plus w/Navigation Package, and all I can say is this is a great car. Everyone I show it to is amazed first by its beautiful shiny black exterior, and then awed by the luxurious and spacious interior. (I have to say my first impression of this car far outweighed that of the 2006 3 series -- in both looks and features).
The car has all the features I could possibly want: Touch-screen GPS, back-up camera, seat warmers/coolers, iPod aux input, bluetooth, GOOD voice recognition, and the list goes on. I also really can't get over how nice this car looks. It stands out in any parking lot and I've received plenty of compliments.
Overall, this is a great car for anyone looking for that mix of luxury and sport. I haven't really tested it in speed yet, as I'm still warming up the engine, but it definitely has great handling and is quite nimble. When I was rating the car, I couldn't dock any stars because this car is great all around, and a bargain for $45k (much cheaper than an equally spec'd 3 series)....read morehide

- I loved this car until it hit 5000 miles - great handling, acceleration, braking, looks, etc.
- CD player quit ejecting CDs then quit playing them, worst is tires "shred" and rims damage
I may be one of the first to buy this car. I bought it in early December, 2005. As I mentioned, I loved it the first few thousand miles and I noticed most of the other reviews reference cars with the same super low mileage.
I brought the fully loaded IS 350 (not sports model). I loved it. I thought it was a work of art as well as a great high performance luxurty car. But at 5000 miles I had to bring it in for "service" because the CD player broke. First it quit ejecting CDs but would play them. Then it stopped playing them. Finally error messages would display if I tried to used the CD player. When I told Lexus service, they somewhat rudely told me that was "impossible" - that I just didn't know how to use a CD player!
It took a week to fix the CD player because it had to be completely removed and replaced. It took a week to get a new one because it had to be ordered from Japan. It took almost a month to get the "stuck" CDs back because only Japan can get the stuck CD out of the old CD player.
At about the same time, all four tires "shredded" and the rims were scratched and bent. There was no damage to the part of the car that hung over the tire, yet they still they blamed the damage on me (actually they blamed it on my 14-year-old teenager, who doesn't have a driver's license, saying she must have "snuck it out one night"). I said I would have Rynck replace the rims and tires. but Lexus said only they could replace them because "special" tires are required for the IS 350. They charged me $3100.
A few weeks later after replacing the tires and rims, the day after I paid off the $3100 credit card, the low tire warning light went on and I noticed the tires were beginning to shred again. None of the tires were "low." This was as I was leaving for work. So much for reliability.
I called Lexus and they actually told me to ignore the warning light and drive to work. So much for cutomer service. I guess this way the tires could shred completely again and they could blame it on my teenager. But not this time. Since the first tire event I kept the spare key with me, with the original (what's the use of having a spare key if you have to keep it with the original?) I even slept with the keys -- at the advice of the Lexus service agent.
I am not a fast driver. I use cruise control. I bought the car not for speed, but for safety, specifically in the event I would have to accelerate out of a potential accident because I have a very bad 25-mile one way commute to Silicon Valley, CA.
Could it be the high friction brakes that are causing damage to the tires and rim? There is an abnormal amount of brake dust for never (ok, rarely) driving over 70 mph.
BTW, the shredding looked like cuts in the shape of a "V" and were from 1 to about 3 inches in length, all pointing towards the front of the car. Some cuts break off, leaving almost unnoticeable nicks in the tire.
It still performs well but I to tell the truth, I fear for my life - that a tire will blow while driving - let alone enjoy it.
To add insult to injury, service was horrible. Both the CD and tires failed at the same time, but they only fixed the tires/rims. So then I had to wait another week for the CD player that they "forgot" to fix....read morehide

I TRADED MY NISSAN 350Z ROADSTER IN FOR THIS CAR. I LOVE THE TECHNOLOGY PACKED IS350 AND ITS HANDLING AND BETTER GAS MILEAGE (AT LEAST BETTER THAN THE Z). IT GIVES YOU A FEELING OF SPORTY CLASSY AND TECH GUY ALL IN ONE! BLUETOOTH RADIO, TOUCHSCREEN NAVI, VOICE OPERATION CONTROLS, KEYLESS ENTRY AND ENGINE START- EVERYTHING BUT THE TOILET! :) I LOVE MY IS!...read morehide

- Epitomizes the concept of luxury sport sedan.
- Fuel economy hurts with today's gas prices (averaging 24 mpg, using premium).
I've had mine for a couple months, 1250 miles on it. Initial quality is fantastic, as you would expect from a Lexus. I love it.
The excellent acceleration, deceleration, cornering, and steptronic shifting make it VERY fun to drive, when I want to "DRIVE". But leaving it in automatic and cruising is quite relaxing, when I just want to get from point A to point B.
I got to try an ES350, as a loaner, when I took my IS350 in for its 30-day check-up. It felt like driving a couch, compared to my zippy little beast....read morehide
