2007 Lexus IS 350 User Reviews
6-Speed Sequential shown
- Gorgeous looks, classy interior, silky smooth & powerful engine, beautiful fit/finish,dazzling gauges
- Extensive brake dust on front wheels, placement of MP3 connection and cupholders.
I considered several cars before plunking down my hard-earned money on this one. First the Japanese: The TL is front-wheel drive, G35 looks bland outside and cheap inside; neither of them has the prestige of the Lexus brand. Now the Germans: Both Audi and MB are infamously unreliable, plus the Audi nose is downright ugly. So, it came down to the IS 350 and BMW 3-Series. The Bimmer drives and corners a bit better, but its austere interior and feature for feature price made me opt for the IS.
Since I got my IS 350, I've been looking forward to go to work every morning, not because I love my job that much but because I get to drive this very fast car for 45 minutes each way. It is such a pure joy to drive, aggressively or leisurely. It accelerates mightily and brakes commandingly. Its head-turning gorgeous lines and stylish plush cabin make me feel like king of the road day in, day out....read morehide

- No trim specified for this review
- Styling, award winning dealer service, build quality
- Front/rear tires cannot be rotated, ride, smallish interrior
It came down to the Acura TL and the IS350. Having owned a BMW (see: money-pit, unrealiable), it was not even a consideration. The Acura had more interior room, was front wheel drive, better gas mileage, and tires that could be rotated. The odd sizing difference between the front and rear tires of the IS did not allow them to be rotated, hence faster wear and costlier, early replacement. And 18" low profile performance tires that size aren't cheap every year and half. The only regret I have with the Acura is the service; the local Lexus dealer provides unparalleled service whereas the Acura dealer treats you like you bought American....read morehide

- Excellent Quality Interior. Great Power. Very Responsive Drive.
- Rear Leg Room Could Be Better.
This car is the best on the market for its class and price range. The performance is great. It doesn't lag like the BMW 3 series or the Mercedes C class. You definitely get a lot more for your money with this Lexus. The quality of the interior is EXCELLENT. The leather and electronics put the German cars to shame sadly. Unlike the BMW you don't have to buy separate navigation DVDs when you drive out of the region. The German cars just don't compare to this model. Lexus has finally out done the competition....read morehide

- power, economy, build quaility, brakes, cooled seats, resale
- small leg room for Rr. passengers, limited head room
Traded my BMW for this one. Thank God they put in a Stability Disable switch in for 2007. Tried a 2006 IS350 carryover, but didn't like the overpowering Stability Control. Tried a G35, to many strange noises when pressed hard. Also tried a TL-S a good driver for normal situations, but you can only do so much with a front driver, also to bling bling looking. To me there were only three choices BMW335, G35, IS350. Well for the next 2-3yrs. I will find ot if I made the right choice....read morehide

- Push Button Start, Mark Levinson Stereo
- Navi can't be used while driving, Overbearing Stability Control
This is a great car. Was highly considering it based on Lexus quality and previously owning a Lexus. This car has the power but front seat room and rear seats are definately to small for a $40k+ car. Stability control does not allow you to turn it off so you can have SPORTY driving given the mission of the car.
ALSO, the NAVIGATION system can't be used when you go past 15MPH or so.. NOT GOOD having to pull over to enter an address or even your passenger can't enter it while driving.
Decided to buy a 07 Acura TL type S instead and LOVE IT. Nav is by far better than Lexus and you can fully use while driving. Over 600 voice commands on nav, ZAGAT restaurant ratings, Real Time Traffic, STANDARD HID Lights, turn signals in mirrors, super bright LED taillights, RED interior dash lights, High performance BREMBO brakes, REAL SPORT Suspension with tight handling, Two-tone interior seating, DUAL front cupholders and a back seat that can actually fit two adults. Plus fully loaded w/ nav for $38K.. $5k cheaper than Lexus and has great build quality.
Are you TYPE S??...read morehide

- Lexus IS350 sniffing BMW 3 Series tail
This car is writing an important part of the Lexus story!! It says that Lexus has decided to put performance into the equation when making it's cars.
There is no other car on the market so close behind the BMW 3 Series
as this car. I say the BMW 3 Series is still the leader in handling in this class of vehicle, but the Lexus IS350 is very close to overtaking the BWW 3 Series even in handling, and in sports mode I think it equals the BMW 3 Series, and in all other comparisons the Lexus is ahead.
Why is the Lexus IS350, in my opinion, ahead of the BMW 3 Series.
1. BMW has masses of human labor which they have signed up at
cheap rates on long term contracts. Lexus has a tiny human work
force supplemented by hundreds of Robots with AI (Artificial
2. The precision of the Robots makes the build quality of the Lexus
IS350 far superior to the BMW 3 Series.
3. The quality control involved in the post manufacturing scenario of
the Lexus IS350 is really awesome and in this category BMW
cannot compete. For example:- Each component of the Lexus IS
350 engine is weighed electronically and if the differential between
the weight of the component and the weight of what it should be is
greater than 0.002 of a gram, then the engne is rejected and sent
back to Engineering.
4. All Lexi are built in JIT (Just In Time) mode. There are absoutley
no parts on the shelf. If the supplier of the part in question is late
in delivery of the part more than two times then he/she is severely
reprimanded or even fired. BMW does not have this desiplined
5. One last thing, handling is but one item out of hundreds of things
including your dealership experience. In this arena Lexus Dealers
are tops amd BMW cannot compete.
And always remember a Lexus IS350 will always get you more money
back when you go to sell it than a BMW 3 Series, because a Lexus is
not built, it's ENGINEERED!!!...read morehide

- Excellent handing on x-package, amazing looks, superior cockpit, great MP3 CD features
- Back seat teeny, odd option combinations
The X-package, offering sport suspension, 18" tires with sweet rims, and nice body accents, is fantastic. Oddly, you can't get this package with GPS, it's a special order from Japan. I would have preferred an integrated GPS system but the reviews of the dealer system sound marginal, so I'll be happy with an after market unit or freestanding. Also the price with that combo gets pretty steep.
I drove standard and sport suspension versions of the car back to back, having an awesome salesperson (thanks Angie) who let me bang on the cars hard. The sport suspension should quiet those concerned about the mildly foofy feel of the standard suspension as compared to the germanic competition.
After you learn the paddle shifters, they rock. Video game skills come in handy here; don't expect a normal shift experience as there is no clutch. There is a tiny lag between tap and response, so you get used to anticipating your shift point by a fraction of a second.
When I learned you can disable the VDIM with a cheat code, I was sold on this thing, Google for details. I have yet to try it out but I could feel some VDIM resistance to tripoding in my tests, but honestly it wasn't that intrusive.
I drove all the comparable models, particularly the Audi A4 touted by some as handling better, and found the x-pack version made the others feel unrefined and somehow old fashioned, after I got used to the paddles. Also, gotta love that Toyota dependability, right?
Comfort is outstanding except for the dinky back seats, which make the rear doors seem kinda misleading. Lexus, just make this a two door, or better yet put some suicide doors on there. Save kilos, make car go faster!

- Great Power, fun to drive
- No back seat when I'm in the drivers seat - at 6'2", I have the seat almost up against the back seat
Fit and Finish are great but.....
I Hate the GPS - when moving over 2mph, 80% of the functions are non-functional, and the little warning that comes ever EVERY time you start the car is annoying as all get out. Wish there was some way to kill it!
On the same note: GPS DVD is way out of date. It shows a golf course were there hasn't been a golf course in over 9 years, and it rarely picks the most direct route when off the highways.
Put the Merc GPS system in the Lexus, and I would get another 350 in a NY minute - but as it is, I'll probably go with a Mercedes next....read morehide

- Fit and finish, looks, power, tech
- Brake dust, rear leg room(if you care)
I don't know what the two previous posters are talking about. I own a IS350 and I can tell you that it is a great car! The power for a 4 door sport sedan is outstanding. Granted, a manual transmission would be nice, but I think this auto tranny does a very nice job. The paddle shifters are great once you figure out how to use them correctly. The fit and finish is very nice and certainly does not conjure up a corola image. In fact, in it's class, no one else comes close to this car as far as fit and finish combined with all the tech goodies. The rear legroom is small but not a big factor for me. If you need lots of rear legroom then a sport sedan is not for you anyway. I highly recommend this car....read morehide

- No trim specified for this review
- New style (for now), more power, lexus name, fit & finish
- small interior, clumsy feature, lack thoughtfulness at times
I don't know why Lexus decides to make the new IS250 and IS350 look like a sub $20,000 compact car. It does not have the elegance the older IS once had. It just feels like a Mazda3, Corolla, only with a much smaller interior, but more power.
The driving position isn't the best in this segment, tight leg room in front and very tight in the back seats.
Power is good, but a lot of car has 300 horses these days. I do not like the stability control when I drive. It kicks in too often.
No manual for IS350? Hum.......read morehide
