2007 Lexus IS 350 User Reviews
6-Speed Sequential shown
- Fuel economy is great for this horsepower, good looking car
- Many issues that you would not expect on a 45K car
I bought this car a month ago and have had a chance to find notice many problems.
First thing I noticed is when I have a cup in the main cup holder I can no longer shift. I noticed the rear view mirror shakes when I have the stereo at 1/5 volume or higher, or the sunroof is open on the highway.
The center console is thinly coated veneer that scratches by simply placing your keys on it and costs over $2000.00 to replace. I tried plugging my i-pod power supply into the receptacle in the armrest only to find it won't fit when closed. My sunroof has wind noise above 40 MPH. There is a rattle coming from my seat belt that is making me nuts!...read morehide

- very quick, great interior and features
- steering, small rear seat
After going on a very lengthy test drive over the weekend, I was slightly disapointed with the IS350. First let me say I still think this is a great car, especially the interior. The quality, fit and finish, and materials are all top notch. The seats are fantastic, It was over 90 the day i test drove and before the A/C could get the interior cooled I switched on the seat coolers and within a few minutes I could feel perspiration on my back quickly going away. I just have 2 complaints about the interior, first the rear seat has virtually no leg room when normal sized people are sitting up front and even less so if taller people such as myself are upfront. My other complaint is there is no rear seat fold down option! It would be a nice option for those of us that could use the extra utility for say maybe carrying a snowboard!
The powertrain in this car is quite and smooth as silk, maybe too much so for my taste of what a performace sedan should have. Even at near redline there is just a muted growl, which was disapointing considering how quickly this car can put on speed. The 6speed auto is great, holds gears uphill, on corners, and seems to do a great job of selecting the right gears. Howerver, when using the sport shift (manual paddle shifting) I noticed more delay, than when leaving it in full automatic, when up and downshifting which sapped all the fun out of using them. My biggest complaint was with the steering. The steering is nicely sorted and goes where you point it, it just doesn't provide any useful feel or feedback about what is happening out front. Most of the time the steering felt overly light but did seem to add some effort once you get above most posted highway speed limits.
Overall I feel this car falls short on the "sport sedan" promise Lexus advertizes yet, it excels in all luxury aspects....read morehide
