2008 Lexus LS 460 User Reviews
Luxury Sedan shown
- $28,991 - $31,595
- fuel economy, luxury for much less than competition, features, rear camera, cooling seats, safety
- not as much fun to drive as its European competitors
Purchased As New
The car is simply awesome. I have had most of other luxury cars in this class. Although not as much fun as german cars, it can deliver good punch when needed. Smooth as silk, and that may be part of the problem with some folks not liking it. but for 15K below MSRP and much cheaper than those unreliable european vehicles, it is a deal. Brand new turned out to be cheaper than used ones. This is a good time to buy a new one....read morehide

This is simply the finest car built; I highly recommend it. Ride is ultra-smooth with air suspension, extremely quiet, super sound system.

- very quiet, nice leather and sound system, good brakes
- ride a little rough on concrete freeways
wonderfull overall, silent oasis on wheels. Like a magic carpet on most roads. Just seems to glide over good roads. Love the firm leather seats with AC and heat. very niice!!

- Fairly fast, quiet, excellent safety, Mark Lev audio, AWD
- ride on AWD is too harsh
The 460 AWD is a nice car overall, but is not as smooth as the RWD 460L despite similar air suspension. Impact harshness is much greater. This car rides more like the RWD 460 SWB but is a bit slower. However, the Levinson sound system is spectacular, and the car is very fast. The AWD is great and inspires confidence on slick surfaces, although the road clearance is poor compared to 4WD SUVs. The car is very quiet, but not as quiet as the L models. I am disappointed because my previous LS430 ultra was so much smoother-riding. I should have purchased a 2008 460L RWD instead with a 12K discount off MSRP and kept my AWD SUV for snow days....read morehide

- ML audio, 8 spd trans w 380 hp/367ft. lb. torque, smoothest air suspension in world under 350K
- None whatsover
This is my third LS and the best; with the air suspension in sport mode, handles as well as a 7 series, with it in normal mode handles as well as S550, and in comfort mode approaches Rolls Royce Phantom in smoothness. The VDIM, RWD and powerful V8 are phenomenal. The Smart Access, 8 spd automatic transmission, uniquely superb 19 speaker ML surround sound Audio, heated/ventilated/cooled seats, VDIM, EPS, ECB, dual fuel injection, ULEV status and great fuel economy with almost 400 hp under the hood, great weight distribution for a RWD car, rear seat side airbags & front knee airbags, and self-parking system (not to mention 5.4 second 0-60 time) are all features that cars costing 5 times as much as the 460L don't even offer as options. Considering what this car offers, even at 84K, this is a bargain. Many of these features are also not available in MB and BMW, although (having myself owned and having known many friends who have owned German cars) the frequent visits to the repair shop certainly are exclusive to the German domain....read morehide

- Comfort and Reliability
- Like a household appliance
This is my wife's car. It replaced her previous 2003 BMW 5-series. No doubt about it - the Lexus is very well made, very well thought out, has many "entertaining" features, is very quiet and comfortable. In the long run, I expect it will need less maintenance than previous European makes we've owned. So why don't we like it?Because it's BORING! The car has no pedigree, no character, no involvement, and no passion, ...sort of like driving your Maytag down the street. I much prefer my "ancient" '88 BMW 635CSi to the Lexus because the BMW is FUN and INVOLVING. Wife can't wait until lease expires in 2010 to get back into a BMW.And what is with that peculiar interior smell common to all Japanese cars, whether low or high end? They all smell like a bag of those plastic, toy soldiers from the 60's....read morehide

- Quiet, comfortable, great pick up, complete luxury
- Experiencing a loud squeak in front end
Despite replacing strutts, Lexus dealer cannot find the problem of a loud squeak in front end when going over bumps or dips in road. Test drove another LS460 which had a similar sound albeit not as loud. Dissappointed if Lexus does not find resolution since it is embarrassing.
