- Styling, fuel economy
- Ride is too soft; interior rattles; poor stereo; too much road noise; counter-intuitive navi system
After driving this car for a month, I'm pretty disappointed in the road noise, handling, interior rattles, stereo quality and navigation system.
The styling and fuel economy are nice, but I expected more from this car relative to other luxury SUVs.
Note: I've owned a BMW X-5, Jeep Grand Cherokee and still own a Range Rover HSE and Mercedes CLK320. I'd rate this car at the top in terms of fuel economy, but at the bottom on almost all other categories. Handling and road noise are substandard, for sure....read morehide

- Great Fuel Economy if you don't have a heavy foot. I average 28mpg to 29mpg.
- Ride is very smooth. The car is very quiet.
I got my brand new Lexus Rx400h 2wd with nav for 42K after haggling like a madwoman. Believe me it was very stressful to deal with car dealers. You just have to be persistant.
I drove from LA to San Jose and I still had some gaz left by the time I got into San Jose.
The performance is quite good, the gaz mileage is excellent for an SUV as long as you don't have a heavy foot on the accelerator.
The navigational system took me some time to get use to. But it is great. The back up camera is simply awesome.
My only critics are the blindspot of the car.
Lexus Rx400h has a lot of class!
You will not be dissapointed....read morehide

- Bad tires and terrible tire maintenance!!! Makes you wonder, what else is wrong.
Lexus dealerships and perhaps Lexus company are getting to be less than honest. When you go for oil change, price for rotating the tires is included. However, they do not balance the tires, which is critical to maintain the tires. In fact they discourage balancing the tires. Then after about 25,000 miles, they start saying we should replace the tires. I have Honda and BMW, in addition to Lexus. Tires in those cars last well over 50,000 miles. In Lexus after 25,000 miles, there is a discussion about replacement.
If this is the case with tires, I do not know, what else, they are designing for failure? Lexus quality and service is not where it used to be. Next year, when I need to replace one of my other cars, I am going to go for an American manufacturer, perhaps Lincoln or Buick.
I am really disappointed about the tires issue. If I find one more problem in the car, which should not have been there, I will never buy Lexus or Toyota car again. The dealership cannot balance the tires, after charging more than $120 for an oil change? This is ridiculous....read morehide

- 24 / 25.4 highway; uses premium fuel
- Ride is like a premium sedan
Engine power is excellent, especially when you need it ie., when entering an interstate highway.

- Very Reliable, great smooth ride..front seats comfortable
- hybrid gas mileage not as promised, back seats and leg room not so comfy.
I wanted a hybrid, not so much to save money because this is an expensive car, but to save gas and emissions. Unfortunately the mileage is not very good and emissions are questionable.
Needs are redesign...everywhere you look in So California, there's a Lexus SUV...colors are boring.
