- It is beautiful and it is a guy magnet
- The tires. You have to replace them too often and the tires are not cheap!!!
Purchased As New
I had a midlife crisis and decided that I was going to purchase a burgundy SC430. I had never purchased a new car before. To be honest, I think I paid too much for this car since I cannot negotiate well
when it comes to purchases like cars.
Anyway, I love this car. No matter where I go, I am stopped by men who ask me about the car and who tell me that it is the most attractive car they have ever seen. No, it is not a line. Even though I have met at least three men that I ended up dating while driving my car. I think this is pretty good for an attractive women in her midlife years.!!!
As far as I am concerned, the car is beautiful, handles nicely and you do not see yourself when you drive along the highway. I have only seen two SC430s in my town--both are different colors and years.
By the way, the only reason SC430 put in a backseat was to enable the drivers to get reduced car insurance rates. The rates are lower for a sports car with backseats!!! The seat is not meant for passengers folks!. As I said, I love my Lexus. I will keep it until I die or when I am told that I am too senile to drive it....read morehide

- Gorgeous, fast, rock solid
- None I could find
I've had all sorts of cool cars & this is the best yet! I'm already thinking I'll buy another one when I wear this one out (if that's possible). The dark blue I got is gorgeous... people literally stop & stare! If you have cool cars, you've got to have one of these!!

- Reliable, fun to drive, great service at the dealer, extremely quiet for a convertible.
- Run flat tires wear out before they should.
Tried out all the convertibles in the market, both soft tops and the hard tops. Had to decide whether I wanted a sports car convertible or sedan convertible. An additional criteria was that I had to fit one to two golf club bags in the trunk. Once I made the decision on a sports car, this was the only one that had the comfort, luxury, styling, reliability, fun to drive, and an excellent hard top convertible system. I could also get my wife's and my golf club bags in the trunk with the top up. With the top down I can only get my clubs in the trunk, which is how I use the car most of the time. I have had the car for a year now and totally enjoy driving it. Our other car is an LS430. Although the SC430 doesn't have the same ride as the LS, I didn't expect it to since it is a sports car, but it comes pretty close....read morehide

- V8 power, comfort, and Toyota quality with unparalleled Lexus service
- run flat tires not performance oriented, smallish gas tank
I've owned two SC430s, an '02, and now have an '07. I like the subtle, but positive changes such as the 6-speed transmission, better top mechanism, and retuned suspension. This car is a perfect blend of quality, performance, and comfort. With Toyota quality, I recommend purchasing any SC430 with reasonable miles and all service records. The dealership service departments are second to none for their performance and always seem willing to work with the customers to make owning a Lexus an wonderful experience. I'm hooked!...read morehide

- Fun to drive; solid coupe; comfortable seats & enough headroom; lots of power; beautiful car!!!!!
- a little high on the gas mileage (22 mpg per entire tank including highway and city)
I am very happy I bought this car. I love it. It is a lot of fun to drive and convertible top is absolutely wonderful. No highway sounds at all when top is up. I have never been happier and have owned BMW's; Mercedes and the Lexus ES(which was also unbelievably reliable). The leather appointments and burl wood detail make this car the luxury vehicle it is. I will definitely be buying another one...read morehide

- Reliability, Luxury, GPS as a standard feature, great maneuvering
- Too many other people have the same car!
Traded out my jaguar convertible after a few years of trudging back and forth 3 hours for service issues. Chose to go with Lexus because of local service and I had been tired of BMW's after my 3rd one in a row prior to the Jag. By the way the Jag convertible is arguably the best looking car on the road, so my only complaint about the Lexus is that so many other people in my region that can afford a beautiful luxury vehicle choose this one and I no longer have a unique luxury look. That being said, I am so very satisfied with the used SC that I bought. It was in gorgeous condition with baseball glove leather seats that had heat (a necessity in the midwest winters). GPS was standard and that's been helpful when I travel out of the area. Yes the back seat is small, but I bought this car over the Porshe or other roadster type because it did have the back seat for storage and it felt so much roomier because of the extra cabin area. As a commercial realtor, I could use the extra seating of a sedan for the rare times that I actually travel with multiple clients. So far, none of my clients that travels with me on a solo trip minds being in the Lexus. I think that it does look like you have arrived , are successful and does serve as a status symbol. However, it's just a car, albeit a very nice one. I don't plan on trading it off until I'm at around 70,000 miles. It's a reliable, luxurious and fun car to drive!...read morehide

- great drive train, sound system, gps style
- rough ride
great ride on a smooth surface. however, very hard ride when hitting any small bumps. reason, run flat tires. either ride of run flats has
to be improved or lexus should use conventional tires and a donut spare as in their gs model.

- Performance, luxury
- None if you know what you are buying
My wife wanted one of these cars when they came out in 2002. I kept putting her off and told her that it was a chick car and too expensive. She eventually wore me down and we bought a pre-owned '03 with 40k miles for 40k AND I found out it is not just a chick car. This car is quick and handles like a sports car with luxury that beats any car on the market under 75k. If you are worried about the backseat you bought the wrong car. It is the right car for dressed up Friday night dates with your best girl or Sunday cruises by the beach. Although the leather, heated seats adjust to the most comfy of positions for any driver. Joel from Seattle needs to use the little button that lowers the seat. I am 6' 4" 235 lbs and have tons of head room. This is quite frankly the perfect combination of everything you need in a car once you "make it". Fun, fast, fancy and flirty!...read morehide
