Great Car

by LSBOB from Los Angeles,CA (7/12/08)
Pros:Great power, amazing engine & trans, good looking & very comfortable
Cons:Paint chips to easily

We have put on 19K miles on our LS 460 and think it is a great car. On a cross country trip we got some suprising fuel efficiency numbers; 28MPG on I70 from Utah up the Rockies and 32MPG down the Eastern side, on to the plains of Kansas. These numbers are amazing considering we were driving a 4,600lb, 8 cylinder, 380hp vehicle at speeds of 75-85mph most of the time( could not resist hitting a 100mph a few times, this machine is as calm at 100 as it is at 60mph). My wife drives this car in LA traffic and averages about 22mpg.

Tried the rest now I own the best

by Howard Fosman from Bluffton,SC (7/10/08)
Pros:Traded my 2002 LS 430 for 2008 LS 460. I didn't think they could improve but how wrong I was.
Cons:Can not find any on this great car.

This is my third LS and I am very pleased with everything on the car. The hold button that lets you release the brake while in drive at a light is really neat. GPS improved and the fact that you can record CD's on a hard drive combined with the Mark Levison audio is fantastic. Over all the car and the gas milage is super. You could not ask for a quiter cabin and comfortable ride that the LS 460 gives.

LS-460 is a homerun. Germans are having nighmares.

by Nick from Seattle, WA (7/09/08)
Cons:None.

The person here that is mentioning 14mpg is crazy. Are you sure your shift lever isn't in S mode stuck in 1st gear because you don't know how to operate the car? I am getting 28-30mph hwy at 80mph all day long. 17-18mpg in the city with a/c always on.

This car is in a class by itself, even the BMW 760iL with the 12 cil engine does not have the same luxury features the LS has. And the merc S-600? Good luck keeping that car outside of the service area.

Anyways, my LS-460 is ultra quiet, has laminated glasses, and the only thing I don't like is the nav lock-out when the car is moving but I already solved this problem by installing the override.

Lexus should be ashamed of getting 14MPG on the LS

by Keith from TX (7/06/08)
Pros:Lexus name is becoming just a name, without that luxury ring into it. Sad to realize now!
Cons:My LS 460 only makes 14 MPG in city and !7 MPG on highway! Cannot seem possible to make 28 MPG?

I got the complete package, with $7,000 off the MSRP from FL dealer, that is with the self parking device. My wife jumped into the deal to by it because of the savings, but now that the listed MPG cannot be attained and gas keeps going and going up, this car isn't so viable to be driving in the city nor on the highway. At $70,000, I should have bought myself the Mercedes Benz S class for the same amount, but better name and original name of luxury. Will trade-up soon for the Benz!

28 MPG on hwy @ 80 MPH! Excellent power and luxury

by Robert H. Brobst III from Long Beach, Ca (6/17/08)
Pros:28MPG on highway @ 77 mph!! Excellent gas mileage for luxury car.
Cons:Wind noise from driver side mirror.

I have the best bang for the "Luxury Buck" in town. This car drives so smoothly. It takes off and goes thru 8 gears effortlessly. It was 25K less than the S550. The highest level of leather and wood throught the cabin. The power plant delivers unbridled and continous power that is comparable to a top sports car. The Levinson stereo pumps the sound. The CD changer is a bit slow to eject discs. And above 45 mph there is a noticable wind noise from the drivers side mirror. Excellent traction in bad weather and the Sport control button works immediately. They electronics are unsurpassed and unmatched by any other car maker period. There are two batteries on car and they are expensive to replace. $320 each! Don't let that stop you from driving a slice of motorcar heaven.

beware the brake noises

by CCWang from Seattle (6/12/08)
Pros:luxury, roomy, excellent stereo system,
Cons:brake noises, pully noises, parking assist system is useless

I have my LS since Nov 2006, after several months driving, I noticed there were contineous noises coming from the brake when I was pumping the brake; also there were noises coming from pully. To make the story short, I brought my car back to the dealer for repairing three times but problems still exist. Dealer has giving up repairing them , Lexus of USA also has denied to repair the problems. I had driven two different LS in the dealership, both of them have noises coming out from the brake as mine.
Parking assist system can only prove Lexus ability in technology innovation, but has no use in reality.
My advice is before you buy a LS make sure there is no noise coming out from the brake.

Beautifully innovative Vehicle

by Rodney B. from Brooklyn, NY (4/08/08)
Pros:Seriously comfortable ride and cabin, smooth acceleration, advanced technology integration
Cons:Voice recognition NAV system needs some work. Some commands not recognized with clear enunciation.

I would most certainly recommend this vehicle to anyone who is in the market for a luxury sedan. I drove the BMW 7-series and the Mercedes-Benz S 550. In my opinion, the Lexus LS 460 outperforms both vehicles. The technology incorporated into the Lexus is top of the line. With all things being considered, the Lexus was less expensive and delivered more for the money. Service was also a key factor in why I chose the Lexus. I visited several dealerships and all of them were quite helpful. It is a fantastic vehicle!

2008 Lexus LS-460 - A Great Buy

by Rick S. from Wellington, FL (3/23/08)
Pros:Comfortable ride and intelligent cockpit, Levinson sound system, style, and overall quality
Cons:Touchy brakes take getting used to; better music indexing on HDD

Our 4th Lexus over the past 14 years, and clearly the best ever. Previously drove a '98 GS-300 for 10 years and considered the '08 GS and Mercedes E550, as well as a number of other vehicles ranging from Infiniti to Cadillac to even Hyundai (Genesis). In the end, nothing compared to the overall comfort, performance, quality, features and styling combination offered by the LS. It is an expensive "value" compared to many other cars in the same or higher price ranges. (Got a 2008 LS in silver with black leather interior, with Nav/Levinson/Parking + other options.)

I recently turned 40, and wasn't sure if I was "old enough" yet for the LS based on the styling of older models. The 2007 / 2008 is a significant improvement in every respect and I have no regrets whatsoever for going luxury instead of sports/luxury. Levinson stereo is incredible and navigation is better than most reviews indicate - I don't see a need for anyone to operate it while the car is moving - even a passenger. Intuitive park assist is more useful than you might think (advanced parking not worth it unless you are challenged and do a lot of parallel parking). Voice control works o.k. if you speak clearly, but it is typically faster to touch a button or two.

Great Car.

by Willard W. Olson from Paradise Valley, Arizona (3/13/08)
Pros:At freeway speeds of 80+ mph, my LS460L averages 28 mpg.
Cons:None

I own two top of the line Mercedes Benz cars. I believe that the LS460L that I purchased in September 2007 is equal to or better than any current MB. It is wonderful to drive. The ergonomics of the drivers area represents great care and planning. It also have tremendous power and acceleration. As far as I am concerned, it is the greatest automobile manufactured today at any price.

Great looking and well built.

by Tom Dowd from Pittsburgh (3/08/08)
Pros:Great Looking and 20K cheaper than S550
Cons:Want back window shades as they changed package and now hard to get. Maybe get HP over 400!

Car is fantastic in everyway! Love the new sport mode and 19' rims. Car has lot's of room, fast and smoooth as silk. Had and 07 and just picked-up 08. Love the brand and service. The 20K savings is a slam dunk over the MB and is sharper and better controls. The touch screen is killer over the MB.

I looked at MB for the AWD but I will wait for the new LS in Oct and trade over.

If Lexus got HP over 400 they would kill the comp! Does not need it but would really put it over the top!
