Bravo Lexus, Bravo

by Brian Carl Crea from Sterling, Va. (7/01/08)
Pros:This car is the definition of class.
Cons:None - whish it would come in hot pink.

Lexus LX 570 has created a truly luxurious SUV. For being an SUV, it handles like an Italian sports car (off road and on). It has been my smoothest ride yet. Some peasants complain about the gas consumption, but if they cannot afford the gas they should not be spending $74k on a vehicle. Those so called environmentalist are just jealous they cannot afford this car. If the world is coming to an end as they say, I am going out in a Lexus LX570!

almost perfect, trail ready!!

by enthusiast from aspen,co (6/30/08)
Pros:trail rated in style and comfort
Cons:i wish it would seat 10 - exterior wont really wow you at first- i would rather have 18 in wheels

firstly, i am an owner (2 months) not a tire kicker who
expects a full size suv will consume 25 mpg...now thats funny. i bought this for my family of 6, we go camping a lot, hauling 4 atvs and a rhino. the only thing that i didnt like is the 20 inch wheels...i want 18 with more rubber.

initially, i was looking at the LC(my favorite family hauler) but the bonehead salesman refused to discount the msrp. so (thanks god) i decided to see if the extra 8k is worth it. and what do you know....i fell in love with it! the engine is beast, you wont feel it shift, it so smooth. i get 14 mpg combined. the interior of this suv is so luxurious and well appointed , it feels like you're in a luxury jet cockpit.

When is a Lexus not a Lexus?

by David Green from Alpine, the hills NJ (4/23/08)
Pros:Very comfortable interior; smooth and quiet powertrain; Bluetooth; User friendly navigation
Cons:Horrific fuel mileage even for a large SUV; not roomy inside; overpriced; exterior design=Toyota

They say good things come to those who wait. This was one of those times I waited and am not happy.

I had a 2003 Escalade and wanted to replace it with something similar. As a former Toyota fan I was really looking forward to the new Lexus and was hoping it would be a homerun. Simply put-- It's not.

Good points- The interior seats are excellent. Very well made and the leather is good quality. Much more comfortable than my old Escalade. The engine is very quiet and very smooth and has good get up and go power. It's very good at towing as well. I have a small boat at it pulls with little downside.

The Bluetooth is an awesome feature! Every car should have this. The Navigation system is the best I have seen. My wife drives a 2008 BMW 550i with iDrive and we both hate it so much compared to the Lexus. LX570 has a wonderful interior design but it is a bit snug. For a big SUV the inside could be bigger.

Fuel economy really is a let down. Even on the highway we never see the EPA city rating! We get about 8-10 in the city and even less when towing. I have seen as low as 6 MPG on a recent trip to Vermont. On the highway without towing the best we have seen is 13 maybe 15 if we keep it below 60 MPH. Unacceptable. Even my 2003 Escalade with over 140k miles still gets over 15 in the city and 18 on the highway and I never had a single problem with it.

We were in the market to spend $65k max. We ended up spending $85k because there were some features we had to have. I admit we fell in love with it at the dealer. But now after some real "windshield time" we are not satisfied. The exterior is getting worse looking everyday. There's no differences between this and the Toyota. If we could do it again, we would have not bought the Lexus. I should have got a new Escalade. More room, better power, much better on gas, much lighter on the wallet and it looks downright awesome. Anyone want to buy a 08' Lexus LX570 from me?

Lexus Landcruiser, weak body.

by Taco from San Jose (3/20/08)
Pros:Bluetooth, Lexus Link, front side and back cameras.
Cons:Weak body frame, cargo, looks like a toyota landcruiser,

I get about 12MPG city and 17~19.8 MPG highway. This car's performance can be outdone by the Cadillac Escalade, but not in comfort. Lexus's supreme comfort beats out the Mercedes S-550 (my mother's car). It has a lot of features but cost a whole lot, but if you are considering buying or looking at Lexus in the first place, price does not matter. Not much to say about it but here goes with the cons

Lexus is essentially Toyota at heart, therefore the body and looks is almost similar in one way or another and has similar features, some standard, some optional. I make the claim that the body frame is weak because not only am i the primary driver of my hummer, but i was involved in an accident at residential speed (25MPHs), which caused the front right of my new LX 570 to dent for repairs costing the very least $5,000. The car that I have rammed into, a BMW 3-series 2002~2003, had only about 3 lines of scratches on one of the rear doors.

The plastics on this car makes the car lighter sure, but its also just as weak as my friend's Honda Civic if not worst.

Maximum cargo for the Lincoln Navigator L is about 128.2cu ft according to the website. Lexus however only provides 83.1 cu ft. The normal sized Navigator still provides about 20 more cu ft compared to the one trim LX 570.

Overall, your best buy would be a Cadillac Escalade because the LX 570 does not scream or even subtly say i bought my car for $91k. You wouldn't even know the car cost that much without extensive research and if you are a die-hard fan about Lexus.

It's an amazing and refined ride.

by Anthony H. from Corona Del Mar, CA (2/11/08)
Pros:Quiet, smooth, yet powerful; beautiful fit and finishes.
Cons:None so far

I love the ride. It feels more refined than the Range Rover and the Escalade. The navigation system is user friendly. The Mark Levinson system is great.
