Can't find a reason to replace this old car!

by Evan Crawford from San Diego, CA (6/16/08)
Pros:Flawless hardtop roof retraction, very smooth ride, very fast, excellent sound system,
Cons:fuel economy medium

My SC430 is just a great car. It has a simple, elegant design and ages well. The car is powerful and fast, but the ride is very smooth. With the top up, you'd never know it was a convertible from the inside or outside, the seal with the top is perfect, but it also retracts dependably. The paint and finish is very durable. I'm still driving a 2004, and have been looking for a reason to upgrade, except that the only thing lacking in my 2004 is an iPod jack! The back seat is too small to be a back seat but allows you me to carry a lot of stuff in this little car. The run-flat tires work great. I ran over a nail (didn't know it at the time) but kept losing pressure in the tire and drove with the "flat) for about 60 miles (I was out of town), got it to the dealer, had it replaced, and was good to go. Nothing other than scheduled maintenance in 4 years. But the thing that surprises me most is that driving around people still look at the car & shout "beautiful car, gorgeous car, etc" even though it's 4 years old, and there aren't many 4-year old cars that turn heads in Southern California!

Lexus SC430 - a good sports car for the money

by Monte from San Jose, Ca (4/01/08)
Pros:Reliability, comfort, style and price.
Cons:Rough ride, and low horse power

As I mention in the Pros - this car is extremely reliable and I expect that of a Lexus. It is also the most comfortable car in it's class with very good leg room (just try to get your 6'5" frame in a Mercedes SL). The style - well it's not a Ferrari, but then your not paying $200k for it either.
Change out those "Run Flat" tires and it's ride gets much better. I think it is time for Lexus to come out with more than 350 hp for their sports car. I also find the GPS hard to "navigate" around and I don't mean following the streets.

Toyota engin, should last forever, rides good!

by Joey from San Gabriel, Ca (2/06/08)
Pros:Full options, it comes with all the things you wanted. very Comfort drive. Hard top Convertible.
Cons:Ride is rough with Run Flat tires, , dont fell like a 280 horse power car.

Toyota engin, will last forever, looks good inside out, rides good. Hard top convertible. will fit two golf bags in the trank. GPS is not up-to-date. Run flat tires is too much $$$ and rides rough. Good standar sound system.

great car

by car fan from connecticut (2/03/08)
Pros:great looking, comfortable, quiet, smooth
Cons:Lack of high tech, Old version of GPS Screen

I just got my 2008 SC 430 with Pebble beach edition. I have following this car since it was on the market in 2002. It is great looing and extremly comfortable, even with run flat tire. It is not a sports car for race Track, but it is quick enough on highway and showiing on beach with top down. Things that i am not satisified are 1. no access of MP3 or iPOD, 2. GPS is old version, did not catch up with other Lexus model,3. Lack of option of Keyless drive 4. Old fashion of retractable antena. I am anticipating much more modern updated technology with a car price at $70,000. It is interesting though, it is v8 with only 288 HP. but BMW 335i hardtop convertable has V6 with 300 hp. It may not mean anything.

A very fun car.

by Ellis (1/28/08)
Pros:Drop Dead Gorgeous Looks, Fantastic Fit And Finish.
Cons:Ride Is Rough With RUN Flat Tires, Switching Tires To Regular Michelins Solved The Problem

My car is a 2002 that I purchased in 2007 with 19K miles. It had been garaged all it's life and was just waiting for someone to drive it.

The SC430 allows you to have a convertible that is practical (as far as convertibles go) because of the hard top. There are other hard top convertibles on the market and there will soon be more but the Lexus SC430 sets the standard - IMO.

The SC430 packs a V8 under the hood with rear wheel drive so this IS a true sports car. It can pin you to the seat with the acceleration yet gives you comfort on the road.

Are there better sports cars on the road? Yes
Are there better convertibles on the road? Maybe.
Are there better cars that do both? Not likely.

Fantastic vehicle

by 6 ACES from Brazoria County ,Texas (1/06/08)
Pros:Absolutely beautiful.Smooth ride with fantastic acceleration.
Cons:Trunk space is limited when top is down.

There is virtually no wind noise with the top up. Takes about 22 seconds to raise and lower the top. The styling is wonderful! Would absolutely buy it again. Most enjoyable car I have ever driven.

Awesome car

by Russ from Fresno, California (11/05/07)
Pros:Comfort, Luxury, Styling, Quality
Cons:None

It is a beautiful and comfortable ride. Everything you could possibly want in a luxury car with the benefits of a convertible. However, with the hardtop you hardly know that you are in a convertible until the top is down. I recommend it to everyone who wants a sport car that is also comfortable and pleasant for longer trips.
