1999 Lincoln Continental User Reviews
- No trim specified for this review
- Operation in snow excellent with good quality all season tires.
- Operator cost of ownership for repair seemingly high as vehicle ages above 90K miles
Purchased As Used
Have owned and operated this great ride of a 1999 Continental from 21K miles. Current mileage 120K. Performed all factory timed recommended services. Majority of miles were hard driving in San Francisco bay area with 3 winters in Calgary Canada. Problem areas: Front brake disc rotor warping. Corrected with high performance slotted / drilled design. Serpertine tension pulleys wore out at 95 - 105K Miles. High cost failure surprise with transmission at 120000 miles. Only indication of trans problem was slight feeling of surging going up hills starting at 95K miles turning into trans over temperature on California Grape vine pass. Failure resulted in transmission metal debris contamination of radiator trans-cooler, requiring complete radiator replacement.
Total repair cost to date not counting recommended factory maintenance, disc brake improvement is $4700. Predict vehicle total cost of ownership not to exceed $6000 through 160000 miles
