I own a 2007 MKX (Lincoln). If my experience after 100K miles is typical, my advice is stay away! Repairs to date:two wheel bearings, radiator fan, AC fan, power steering pump, side mirror. And just today a leak possibly in the transaxle-local mech checked, says best to bring it to Ford dealer, so I'm looking at probably a $1000+. My PT Cruiser with over 230K miles had far fewer problems....read morehide

- Pros
- Awesome looking SUV, tech is really good, very comfy and quiet
- Cons
- gas mileage

This car got many mixed reviews. I was just about to buy an Audi wagon when I saw youtube reviews by Drivetime and CarTech (CNET). I found these two resources credible and they said the Lincoln was great. Checked the MKX out for myself and loved it. I was hoping to get advertised gas mileage but no such luck. One plus is that it runs on regular gas without complaining. Got rear-ended and there was virtually no damage to MKX *knock on wood* where there would've been thousands of $ damage to my last car. Some people complain about the tailgate going up and down. I had the same issue...very embarrassing to witness. Notified the service deparment and they replaced the tailgate motor...issue SOLVED completely!! I was originally concerned about the THX system and #$%$ SIRIUS quality. Here's my take: In an Acura, for example, SIRIUS/XM sounds pretty good & MKX sounds just OK, with some phasing issues that bug me. Haven't heard Acura HD radio yet but MKX sounds excellent. iPod and CDs sound pretty good in Acura but MKX can sound superb depending on the source material. You can really tell the difference. Overall, I'm happy with the car. We'll see what happens when the lease is up....read morehide

- Pros
- Beautiful look from the outside, especially in the Black Metallic paint.
- Cons
- Gas mileage never getting close to 20, which is a big disappointment.

This MKX is a beautiful vehicle to look at in its sparkling black metallic. The front end looks menacing and modern. The My Lincoln Touch is touchy alright. While electronics and software are enticing, they are also frustrating when they don't work well or are confusing. The slide controls for the fan speed and the radio volume are terrible. They either don't respond at all, or all of a sudden the volume is blasting or the fan goes from blasting to nothing in one touch. I find myself distracted from the road by looking at all of these screens and trying to adjust or locate things. It has taken me weeks to try to figure out the best way to unlock the rear doors so that people can get out without me having to manually open the rear doors for them. I am an electronic/gadget junkie, so I wanted all of the new and cool things, but they are very frustrating. The interior is beautiful, with good design to the dash. The center console area is a little too wide and my right knee rubs on it all of the time. The seats are comfortable, but the front passenger seat always seems to be moved up and forward leaving little room for your legs. Is it gremlins? I went from a GMC Envoy XL seven passenger gas hog which got 14-16 mpg, to the Lincoln MKX five passenger, and 8 years of new technology hoping to get better gas mileage. So far the difference is not very big for how much smaller this vehicle is and the added years to improve technology This is the second time that I have read all of the reviews on a vehicle, but went with what I liked instead of listening to the reviewers who told me to take a pass on the vehicle. With the Envoy they were right, and I regret it. I hope that I won't regret this purchase and should have bought the Acura instead which got great reviews. I guess the main reason I didn't was that the Acura would have been $55,000 plus with similar features....read morehide

- It looks good and handles like a dream
- Cons
- Pricey for a 5 passenger vehicle/leather interior needs work

Lincoln has the luxury features and interior space that are hard to find in other high end models. WE love our 2009 MKX however the interior leather needs to be thicker and more structured. After about 2 years, the leather is starting to wrinkle, it's just too soft and feels flimsy. The paint on the steering wheel (around the buttons that operate special features) rubs off and doesn't have a long life either. We would love to see Ford address these issues. THESE are our only complaints. Mechanically we're having NO problems (currently at 40,000). BUT we're staying on top of maintenance and not missing oil changes and tune-ups as the manufacturer encourages a detailed maintenance protocol. We were looking at ACURA, LEXUS and the BMW models. We found the MKX beat them all with the bells and whistles it offers. Our next vehicle may be the MKT as it offers 6-7 passenger seating which is a must for the kids.We were a Toyota and Honda family because we come from a generation when our parents purchased foreign made cars because they were "better". We did what our parents did, so to speak. However, Lincoln has captured our attention and we are proud to say we bought AMERICAN....read morehide

Steering weel adjusts but we cant get to a position comfortable for us which is not good on long drives.
You cant lock the glove box or center console which isnt good if you leave it with a valet often.
The key fob thing may be someone's idea of a nifty gadget but I dont like it. Really dont like leaving it with a Valet. If it should be damaged in some way I would be sol.
Push button in the back and the back seats fold down, just like in the edge. You would think in a car this expensive that you could push a button and the seats would come back up. You lift them back up manually which isnt at all hard. Just a little thing.
The back doors, like the Edge, do not open wide enough to make it easy for an older person for example to get in and out easily.
I had Onstar installed. Much easier to operate....read morehide2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

- Cons
- Fuel milage

This is my 2nd MKX. The 2012 is a huge improvement over the 2008 we had. Electronic updates, as well as the new engine are considerably much better. Love the panoramic roof and the ride. The audio system is also top notch.

- Pros
- roomy interior, nice interior finishes
- Cons
- the technology stuff doesn't work well, no pick up
Purchased As New
Trading in our Infinity FX, we thought we would buy American this year. This was a mistake. The pros were the interior was roomier and it promised some neat technology. However, the technology is not ready for prime time. Everything and I mean everything works through their sync system. It frequently freezes or occasionally does an update when you are using it. We have come to find the seats are uncomfortable for more then 30 minutes, the gas mileage has never come anywhere near to what was advertised and it has no pick up. Lastly and most disturbing, there is no "Lincoln" dealer type service. You bring it to Ford and well honestly, burnt coffee, cigarette stains on linoleum and less than attentive service does not warrant buy a $50K car....read morehide
