- Exciting ride, head-turning exotic looks
- Difficult to get into and out of
I've had this car for almost a year now and I am still very much in love with it. If you buy this car, be prepared to be accosted nearly every time you drive by people, both men and women, wanting to ask you what it is and how fast it goes. This car is an absolute joy to drive and every time I crank it up, I am reminded of exactly what it was that made me want to buy it in the first place.
On a very down to earth note, because if you're reading this you michgt want to know the whole truth, this car is NOT for everyone. I would not recommend it as a daily driver. It is very small and a very rough ride with only enough trunk space to store your soft top. I don't drive it in the rain as I have discovered through experience that the soft top leaks quite profusely. I do have the hard top, but I prefer to leave it topless as it does make it much simpler to get into and out of. If you are at all heavy-set, this is most certainly not the best choice for you due to its extremely tight quarters. My husband and I are pretty smooshed together when he's in the passenger seat and neither one of us is large.
Having said all that, I wouldn't trade mine for the world. If I'm ever having a bad day, all I have to do is get the little yellow beastie out of the garage and I'll be wearing a smile for the rest of the day. I love the exterior styling and the handling makes my heart sing. Haven't needed any repairs or out of the norm servicing. Quite a nice little car!...read morehide

- great style and fuel economy for a sports car. It seems to be a eye catcher in a croud.
- Somewhat loud in the soft top. difficult to get in with the top on
I have had my elise for less than a month. I find every reason to drive it. You can take 90 degree turns at 50 mph without any problem. The car stops very well without antilock breaks. I looked at all the other sport cars under 60 thousand. The elise was by far the best bang for the buck if you can go without some the luxury items offered in the z, z4, slk, or caymane. The interior is very spartan but functional. I look forward to warmer weather to drive with the top off. The only major issue is availability of dealerships which can make warranty work difficult....read morehide

- 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, weighs only 1984 pounds, great fuel economy, I love every exterior color.
- It will barely fit a 6 foot 260 pound driver such as myself, not comfortable.
I love this car. It's perfect for anybody who has $44,790 that needs a car to go speeding on the weekends in clear traffic and never get tired of it. Not to mention the person must be shorter than 6 foot and needs to weigh less than 200 pounds in order to sit, drive, and enter/exit properly in this car....read morehide

- just 1 step from perfect
to buy a 911 F360 SLR just showing you have that much $ to buy a highend car.
But, ownning a Lotus means you are such a driving maniac. perfect handing, perfect look, the only thing nt match a 5 star is the modified toyota engine.
with the honda engine, Lotus can smoke all.
50G really worthy to everything the car is gonna bring to you....read morehide

- Street legal racecar feel, ride, sound, performance, and eye-catching looks.
- You wear this car and must be agile to get in and out, poor visibility with top on.
This is a minimalist car designed for those of us who love to drive and want to feel like an extension of the machine. The seats are comfortable and the controls have a positive mechanical feel. This is not a car that I would want to drive very far unless the road was smooth and curvy. The suspension is stiff for great cornering but will make even the smallest of bumps feel huge. The engine noise is pleasant and not overwhelming. Overall, I have really enjoyed this car and highly recommend one if you have the means....read morehide

- Fun to drive. fuel economy
- Tight interior, not much storage room
I just bought this car after much research into it. I put 210 miles on it so far and just put in 7 gallons of gas today. I was shocked to get basically 30 mpg when I have been having a blast driving it at the same time. I have owned a boxster in the past and must admit this is a very different car. If you are into amenities and gadgets in your car then the boxster is a better choice. I also felt the boxster was as good of handling however my elise doesn't have the sports suspension. Most people that have ridden in the elise comment on how good the ride is which is party why I avoided the sports suspension. I also have a friend with the John Cooper Mini and the Elise has slightly more pickup however the Cooper having a backseat is more geared towards a family with young children. Getting the luxury package and star shield appears to be the way to go and sport package if you want to go to the track once in a while. In addition to fun driving and an overall comfortable ride I was surprised how easy it is to carry on conversations while going 50-60 mph. You feel the breeze but you really do not need to raise your voice at all to talk. I'm 6'1 and weigh about 200 lbs and I really do not think anyone taller than me could fit into the car. I don't think anyone weighing more than me would enjoy the car either as I'm a tight fit....read morehide
