2014 Mazda CX-5 User Reviews
Grand Touring AWD shown
- $21,395 - $29,070

- Good gas mileage, fun to drive
- Terrible NAV system
Purchased As New
Great gas mileage (~28mpg after 3500 miles). The 2.5L engine and its low center of gravity makes it really fun to drive (handles turns very well). Also, after test driving a few compact SUVs, the CX-5 T had great horse power. The front seats are roomy. The back seats are OK.
The only compact SUV of all the models I've tested that competes with the CX-5 is the Subaru Forester. At the end, got the CX-5 because it looked better, was more fun to drive and I don't get enough snow around here to care about the AWD system (Subaru's is better).
My only rant is the NAV system. It's slow, has a totally non-intuitive user interface and feels buggy (maps don't update as they should when zooming out). In fact, my girlfriend's 2002 Prius has a much better and easier to operate GPS. IMO not worth the price. Also, for the US model, the NAV input gets locked once the car starts moving (even if you have a passenger, which the car can detect). This is really inconvenient since you need to stop to be able to find POI's like gas stations or restaurants.
If you exclude, the NAV system, the CX-5 (I'm talking about the 2.5L trims only) are great.
